It is from the TV show "We Don't Mess Around", 1978. A great TV programme from the brief European 1978 tour. Favorite non-musical part is Zappa in a toy store looking for props.

You CAN obtain this legitimately on ITunes, as it is released as "At The Cirkus"!

It has an absolutely beautiful guitar solo in it. It's relaxed and intense at the same time..... :)

Sorry, forgot to mention it. I would say it is one of the better of those. Decent sound and lots of quite different (early) arrangements of at that time unreleased songs.

Has to do with The Saturday Night Live Conehead mythology. Can't help here (except that the Coneheads are from planet Remulak)

I'm downloading it from iTunes right now. BTW, it's Circus not Cirkus. I copied and pasted from your post and couldn't find it on iTunes at first. No big deal really.

Thought I'd also mention, I have an old two disc vinyl bootleg from way back called Wax Flags of Pauley Pavillion 31st December 1977 with an instrumental called Conehead. The quality is crap, I wouldn't mind a good quality recording of that. You can sort of hear how the Conehead song might have grown out of it.

I'm not sure what the rolling eyes are meant to imply, but just in case you think this is a competition, I didn't buy At The Circus because I thought the Conehead version better than on your video. HJ just happened to mention ATC and I've been considering buying at least some of the Beat The Boots series since they've been made available on iTunes. HJ's post just gave me the impetus to buy that particular one at that particular moment.

I had downloaded your video before anybody had even replied to this thread and I have watched it a few times and yes it is better quality than ATC, but so what?

Another funny thing about that, is that I had decided to start getting back into King Crimson a couple of years ago and intended to buy at least all their albums up to and including USA and also at least some of the ones after that. So, over a period of time I did that and then a couple of weeks ago I was in a music shop and saw Lizard and realised that I had completely forgotten about it and snapped it up immediately. I'm more of a fan of the material on Islands and beyond but I also like later versions of the earlier material, but Lizard is growing on me.

All I'm trying to clarify is why you were rolling your eyes. If I've misinterpreted your intent, I'm sorry.

I'm rolling my eyes 'cause I've ripped whole show in mp3 and cut parts from the store and bodyguard interview
