I heard a version of Chunga's Revenge as an interlude on NPR tonight. I haven't been listening to NPR in the past few years, so I don't know if this is new.

Who does this cover? Has NPR been playing Zappa interludes for a long time?

I couldn't tell you how long they've been doing it, but I've heard some before.

I asked about this elsewhere and heard that it was probably the Gotan Project.

A few Sundays ago they used a version of Gumbo Variations (by Ed Palermo's band, I think) as an interlude on the morning news.

Yeah from time to time on NPR I've caught a few seconds of Hot Rats before... usually at the end of a story. Made me sit up and take notice since it was somewhat jarring to hear FZ when I wasn't expecting it.

They played a snippet of Blessed Relief once, the actual track.

Did this version of Chunga's have an Indian flavor? Some tabla and sitar? I heard such a version on the TV show Nip/Tuck two seasons ago (I think).
