I enjoyed the dvd. Great to get some up to date interviews with the old-timers.
Really valued the insights from the English expert. I think his name was Ben Watson.

Well put together, and not exploitative like some stuff out there.

Read his book, Negative Dialects of Poodle Play, sometime and let us know if you still have the same opinion about him, specifically. One quick thing that I remember had me scoffing was that he said Montana was obviously a song about masturbation. He then goes on and on and on showing details why. Interesting read for sure, but some of his theories seem askew.

Sorry, PiB, Imust confess to being a little sarcastic there...

I read the Watson book, and found some of it mind-boggling, and fucking bizarre in some of its assertions. I did enjoy the other bits though-basically an album by album review. I guess the fact that FZ granted him (BW) an audience is always going to be a source of discomfort for me because it, in some small way, gives him (BW) some credibility. I would love to know what Frank really thought of some his ideas, though

Hear hear! Sorry, damn text communication sometimes makes it hard for sarcasm to seep across. I agree whole-heartedly about BW. However, I dug the doc. I guess it was more the insight acquired from the former members that made it a gem for me. Also some of the footage interspersed throughout. And come to think of it, I thought Ant-Bee did a good job with his dialog as well. I never had put 2 and 2 together that his musical personality was the same person as the author. Duh!

One particular part I really remember enjoying was each of the former members recollecting the Berlin incident.

Yup, met him for a short while in NYC - seemed pretty laid back. It's a shame they weren't able to get Roy in there...
<best JCB impression> "C'mon Roy"...

Any rumblings of these guys doing another FZ doc in the series? I'd love to see this same style done starting with Hot Rats and moving forward!!!

One of my x-mas gifts this year. Watched it last night. I will watch it occasionally, because I do like documentaries. But I'm glad that I received it as a gift, and didn't actually buy it.

I understand Prism has conducted further interviews with Jeff Simmons, George Duke, Ian Underwood, Mark Volman and Aynsley Dunbar, but no sign of an 'in the 70s' doc. Yet.

I would love to see one based in the 80's.
