Not that we put a whole lot into Grammy Awards, but nonetheless, nice that ZPZ gets the recognition it deserves. Best Rock Instrumental - Peaches!!!

Congratulations ZPZ - you deserve all the accolades coming to you.

They also could have gotten the Grammy for "Dupree's Paradise" or "G-Spot Tornado."

So basically, ZPZ could have come in first, second and third in the same category. Not bad...

The Grammy Awards have given new meaning to my 2006 phrase
Unexpected Perfection.

Congratulations to Dweezil Zappa, the ZPZ Core Band, Special Guests
and all involved in the production of the Strobosonic DVD & Audio Recordings
that are licensed and distributed by Razor & Tie Music.

Did Frank ever win a Grammy for Peaches or anything else?

Do you think they would have won without the alumni involved?

was their award presentation actually aired on the TV show portion or were they insulted by not being aired as a part of the real event.

It was not on the program, but Dweezil tearing up at some point during the non-televised portion was mentioned in a Grammy sum-up I read on enews.com this morning.

I'd like to think Frank would be at least mildly amused by this win.

I guess all things come in time. Pointless to say to us as a group, but nice that that mainstream is finally catching on.

"Unexpected Perfection" YES

"Unexpected Passion" doubly so

Now, if we can get a Sirius/XM channel.........

btw, congrats to Dweezil and ZPZ (and of course, Frank)

Well, you could've Googled, but I did that for you. And all the other people here who couldn't bear the thought of visiting such a site. Searching on Zappa on this site (called eonline.com) was sure a whole lot easier than browsing through all the Grammy 2009 articles. Only 4 feature the holy name: one on celeb kiddie names (unfortunately FZ is running lead in the poll of worst baby names) and one on something that's so horrid I won't even mention it. And one on the Winners list. And the fourth:

Quote:
The unspoken story of the night is the still-evolving Chris Brown-Rihanna situation. The upfront theme of the night is tears. They have been flowing for hours. Literally, for hours. From George Carlin's daughter. To Frank Zappa's son, Dweezil. To Hudson. I may have the only pair of dry eyes on the premises, and that's largely due to my contacts.

yes....awesome news....6 am this morning I read the Grammy list and saw that ZPZ won a Grammy ...I never expected it because the Grammys are usually dissapointing but when I saw the win for Dweezil and Co. I was excited....it made my day...I came home and celebrated by listening to Dweezil's "Go With What You Know"( which also has Peaches on it )..I play FZ every day so I thought in honor of Dweezil I would mix it up a bit and play GWWYK...which is a great cd......so CONGRATULATIONS to Dweezil and the band!!!...and I'll be seeing you at Hampton Beach NH this summer

I think I put this in the wrong forum - I didn't see the "What's Zappaning" forum and thought this was the closest thing to the proper forum. I don't want to mislead people to thinking it was on the Grammy telecast. Just a small error on my part.
