These things can be a crap-shoot(see horrendous Dylan period docs with no Dylan music included). But fortunately, this one wasn't. They have the Zappa images, footage, and most importantly the music. Thanks ZFT for making this 2-hour documentary a pleasant surprise. Lots of rare footage from the vaults and stories from Jimmy Carl Black,Bunk Gardner, Don Preston, and others. They really go in-depth about FZ and The Mothers albums and live shows of the 60's. Of course there is also excellent commentary of this by a few music journalists who are obviously champions of FZ(no need to squat on the cosmic utensil), including Ben Watson. I highly recommend this DVD to all serious and novice FZ/MOI fans. There's a lot of meat on this new bone. 8)

Sarcastic? It's all over the doc that they allowed the documentary use of FZ music, photos, and footage. It was an excellent Doc. Period.

it's just that the way you put it made it seem like it's a zft-release. which it's not.
anyway, I liked it too. check out the previous threads I posted links to, and you'll see.

The problem with this is that there wasn't enough music, or they just didn't excerpt the right bits! (I can't believe it was entirely due to copyright/fair use restrictions - after all they managed to get a whole Peaches En Regalia into Music In Review!)

Even so, it'd be nice if they followed it up with a Frank Zappa Early '70s doc, covering Flo & Eddie, the Wazoos/Ponty through to the end of the Napoleonic years.
