Lovely!
I searched SNPP.com (Springfield Nuclear Power Plant) but it didn't have anything on it yet.

I'm not surprised I have heard FZ had a connection with the creator and the music by Danny sounds suspicousely like it is Zappa influenced (actually all of his stuff in TV & Movies has what I would call the FZ stamp on it).

No but Matt Groening and FZ had something to do with each other at the end of FZ's life. MG did parts of the big interview in the Guitar Player 1992 tribute magazine, and he did this:

For all of the lifetime of this forum, people have tried to find references to Zappa in The Simpsons (which is created by Matt Groening). The above sighting is probably the most clear so far.

"What began last April [1992] on the phone with "you've got two hours" turned into four hours in person a couple of weeks later, and then several days in May, and then more than a week in June. So it went throughout the summer, by phone and in person, with the cassette recorder running and eventually with video cameras going late into the night, when The Simpsons creator Matt Groening asked if he could come along and pose some questions to the man he called "my Elvis."'
Don Menn

He Met FZ once i suppose it's more than Most But Lets be fair it ain't really alot.

PS a link too the interview Matt is in interview,Belgian Waffles in Plastic.

Matt met Frank once in the late '70's when he first moved to L.A. (hence the title "Life in Hell"), and then when he tagged along to ask a few questions with the tape recorder (see above)....he was also there during the "Salad Party" video. In fact, he had told Frank about the Tuvan Throat Singers and brought them along that evening. He met Frank more than once, was a family friend in fact.

Jesus Cleon, what is the matter with you. Why such an urge to poo poo what people are trying to say?

"... Zappa and Groening struck up a deep and mutually respectful friendship. At a time when Zappa was in the final stages of life, he urged Groening to hang out with him and his family, keeping his spirits up and giving him an equally agile mind to spar with " Page 118 of the 2010 MOJO Classic Zappa magazine. And this is not the only place I've read about the friendship between Zappa and Groening.

It's not a myth, Cleon, it's a well established fact.

At least, there are several clues about mutual consideration.
Groening is, among others, thanked in the Yellow Shark lines notes for his "very special but no less significant contributions".
He did the cover manuscript art for Frank Zappa Plays The Music Of Frank Zappa.
And he also wrote an introduction to the Hot Rats guitar tab book.

Agreed. My assumption was just that Matt Groening, a long time fan, started to see FZ at the end of his life and then kept contacts with his family.

quote]

No it started with my statement "I have heard FZ had a connection with the creator [of the simpsons]" which you said was false, now it seems that is true, as for the rest of it I have no certian knowledge.

I also stand by the staement "the music by Danny [Elfman] sounds suspicousely like it is Zappa influenced ", I don't think even you Cleon would deny that.

no, no,
you're all idiots zappa wrote the theme for the simpsons
in the 60's no less

(from a previous post)

i'm serious.the song "america drinks & goes home" has a few similarities to the simpsons theme song .mostly the very familiar begining (you know da.. da .da. da. da. da.. da da dadadada) it's in there
now the version that is on absolutely free has lyrics & the music is very muddy (meant to sound like it's in a swanky night club) so it's hard to hear ,but..........
the version on the king kong record by Jean-Luc Ponty sounds so much like the simpsons theme its insane.i encourage any1 out there to listen to this track & tell me what you hear.
.here it is for your listening pleasure .....the 30 second preview option should be enough for those of u with a musical ear
http://www.last.fm/music/jean-luc+ponty ... ?autostart
anyone on here ever noticed the similarities before?

also...
take a look at my avatar
<----
look a little like any1 u may have heard of

anyone who knows about frank would probably agree that if he had lived to see more of it he would have LOVED the simpsons (especially the halloween episodes would be my guess) and most likely he would have done a guest voice if not written a musical episode.ESPECIALLY BECAUSE HIM AND MATT GROENING WERE FRIENDS AT THE END OF ZAPPA"S LIFE.!!! it is pretty much a fucking well documented fact

to address the original post ..which episode is that from?
