It's my opinion that Gail (and the ZFT) would make a heckuva lot more $ if they made Frank's catalog available via iTunes than the net profit that they'll see from this "big brother" approach. But heeeeeey, that's just me.

i too am perplexed by this. setting up a private downloading service would be cheaper as well.

It's just another way for the holders of music copyrights to squeeze more money out of the system since not very many people actually buy music anymore. I can't say that I blame them. Music publishers (ASCAP and BMI) are getting a lot more aggressive in collecting from anybody who might be playing their music.
