i know he's in the jack nicholson scripted monkees film "head" but i wasn't aware of him being in an episode too.

During the show's second season, each "band" member (heh, heh) was allowed to bring on a guest to open the show. Mike Nesmith chose Zappa, and the two of them switched roles with Zappa, playing Monkee Mike, acting insulted when told that the Monkees' music is banal and insipid. He then goes on to smash a car.<br><br>I know it's available on Rhino, but only as part of the second season DVD box set.

I think it was brilliant. Surreal Dada type stuff being snuck into a show geared towards little teeny-boppers.<br><br>"They have a lot of zany stuff on this program, dontchya think?"
