family dysfunction double feature the other night: transamerica & the squid and the whale. tsatw was well-acted, humorous at times, and a might slow moving ---but perhaps that was the point of it. a marriage does'nt break down overnight, it takes some time for it to happen. transamerica was quietly funny, much funnier than i thought it would be. i really enjoyed it.
watched the family stone last night. eh. some good moments, but an over-all average movie. will watch the producers (the musical version) tonight, i heard it did not translate well and not very good, but i'll give it a chance. what they should have done was film it with the original cast when it played on broadway, as a performance film--would have worked better. i saw a copy of neil young's new live dvd at blockbuster's, of all places.....i'll wait for it's return.

I like it too, although it's not really given much credit, compared to some of his greats. Incidently, Hitchcock had just finished shooting a film when he kicked the bucket. However, to my knowledge, no one has finished it or released it. I wonder whatever happened to it?

 The cover is somewhat misleading and could convince you that its a western from the 1880s( due to Tommy Lee's revolver) it actually takes place in the present day.

In triumphant collaboration with cinematographer Chris Menges, Jones carefully instills his superior cast (including Dwight Yoakam, January Jones, and Melissa Leo) with the slow, desperate rhythms of lives on the border (of Texas and Mexico, and life and death), prompting many critics to draw praiseworthy  comparisons to Sam Peckinpah's thematically similar 1974 drama Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia and the exquisite absurdities of Luis Bunuel.((ATTENTION: MY NAME IS FRITZ Whatever your own reaction might be, Three Burials is not a film to view or respond to lightly; there's humor and more than a bit of madness to this great, inquisitive film, but Jones is looking deeply into the soul of humankind, and he dares you to draw your own conclusions about the journey Pete and Mike have taken. --Jeff Shannon

Watched this tonight - so good. Pacino's character is a bit like watching Hoffman's "Ratso" Rizzo from Midnight Cowboy a few years later, if he'd cleaned himself up just a bit and got a well-paid job. The presence of this little Italian guy on screen nowadays is just astounding, and I actually noticed Kim Basinger on this too - it's true: the girl can act!

Oh, don't get me wrong. I LOVE the movie, I think the soundtrack just kind of cheeses it up a bit. Wrong eyebrows, perhaps?

I took the kids to see Cars. It's what you expect from a Pixar film, kinda funny, kinda sad. Not above any of the other Pixar movies, or below.

I think the soundtrack works perfectly with the film. I don't find it cheesy at all. 8)

murderball--intense!

the matador--funny. pierce bronson has become such a better actor since leaving remington steele.

the ringer---kinda dumb, but not awful.

sarah silverman--jesus is magic...very funny and does uncomfortable humor well, but seems to be showing us,"look! i do uncomfortable stuff! is'nt it edgy?" i still like her, but i'd rather see margaret cho.

yesterday there was the superman returns premiere in here,
only one day, only for imax screens,
there was a press questions and answers after it,
ridiculous, only thing they cared about was if this actor
is more handsome than the other guys, he's more stupid for sure,
but what can be talked about in a superman movie,
exept for the technical fx matters, but it was what
it should be, boring story, exelent fx.

kiss kiss bang bang--nice intro to noir movies for the young kids. robert downey, jr. is great--perhaps his drug past "helped" him for a few scenes in the film. after you're done watching it, replay with the commentary with director shane black, val kilmer and robert downey, jr. it's a hoot!

dave chappelle's block party--if you hate rap and hip hop, stir clear....but you really should'nt. chappelle is quite funny and shows a very down-to-earth side. ain't nothin' but a party!

Bogus, that film is hilarious. Not intentionally, but both genius and hilarious at the same time. A classic. 8)
Anyone who is a fan of The League Of Gentlemen has probably seen the parody they did of this scene in the film, with the Policeman looking for the missing child...except their version had a policeman done up to look like Edward Woodward, searching for a hiker that Tubbs and Edward had murdered and burned in the moors. (Apologies to anyone who hasn't seen The League Of Gentlemen, and hasn't a clue what I'm talking about).

"You know her?
Her name is Rowan Morrison."

"No, no, never seen her before".

"I don't know the face either. Do you know her, Kenny?"

"She doesn't belong to this island".

"No, I never saw her before".

"No, she doesn't belong here at all. Johnnie?"

"No, can't say I know her".
