Just purchased and watched Band from Utopia.
it is an excellent quality production and in 5.1!! (more than the dub room can say.) The performances are incredible despite tom fowler looking consistently dissapointed with himself. Kurt Mcgetrick (sp?) isnt credited on the packaging or liner notes except in the middle of a paragraph somewhere but hes in it as well. Chad wackerman only plays on the last 3-4 songs and he is noticeably better than when he was in franks band. he is also sporting a gay haircut.
DEFINETLY RECOMMENDED FOR ANY ZAPPA FAN. Dweezil said he would be happy if franks music was played but played accuratly (unlike I type) well then he needs to clean the wax out of his ears because if these musicians aren't qualified then NO ONE IS. Fantastic DVD, fantastic quality, fantastic permofrmances, fantastic setlist, fantastic musicians. end of story. (a little on the short side)

the cover on mine is diffrent but yes the DVD. I found min at tower records here in nashville. YEs tommy mars is good but one of his solos his synths did't get turned up loud enough. its audible but requires lots of focus. Ed Mann and CHad REALLY blew me away as well as Bruce and Kurt.

I love the way Ed Mann vamps behind the soloists; especially on Uncle Meat. 8)

This is the cover I have. It doesn't list Kurt McGettrick and says that Bruce Fowler plays the bari sax. But I agree, it's a good DVD. The stereo mix could be better, which is my only option at the moment.

I noticed this dvd on Amazon.com and did a search for this thread, but I'm still not sold. I'd like to hear some more of your opinions. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000E0VO2E/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&v=glance
