I apologize if this is a dupe, but:

I think Chunga's Revenge (from Trance-Fusion) would be a perfect song for a Guitar Hero game.

What other songs do you think would be fun?

Have they really turned Air Guitaring into a video game now? Man, and here I was doing it analog-style all these years.

I would like Zomby Woof to be on Rockband but for Guitar Hero I have to agree with Hometown Sausage Jamboree

People who play this game don't deserve a Zappa song. :x

I don't know why, the idea of this game just annoys me.

Alot of my guitarist friends are bothered by it, too. I don't see why. It's not like the people playing the game are thinking they actually have any skill at guitar playing, just as people who play DDR don't actually believe they have any skill at dancing.

On the other hand, it's sorta rock idolatry at it's worst level, allowing people to fulfill shallow desires of becoming their idol. Fuck, I don't know. It does sorta feed into the 'faster is better' way of hearing Guitar...so I guess I don't appreciate it on that level?

Yeah I don't really know why I dont like it, I just don't.

Probably because I went around to some guys house once and had a go of it for the first time, and didn't do too well. Then he picked it up and did the hardest song on expert level and had obviously been playing it for hours every day and had this whole attitude of "Yeah, you might be able to play guitar better, but I can do this better, haha!" Which didn't really bother me too much anyway but yeah... I suppose like you said most people who play it don't really think they can play guitar.

Another thing though, like you said about rock idolatry... If someone likes the idea of playing guitar so they can be like their favourite rock star, they might just play this because it's a lot easier than actually learning the guitar. Then again, it might also encourage more people to pick up the guitar. I don't know. All I know is I'd rather play the real thing.

i know very little about Guitar Hero, but the episode of South Park that featured (and completely lambasted) Guitar Hero was one of the funniest fucking things i've seen in a long time.

"Heroin Hero... you try to catch the dragon... but you never catch the dragon..." spot-on brilliant.

my vote for FZ solo that would baffle the artifical intelligence of the game goes to "Republicans."

I'm not sure exactly how I feel about this, but I'm a tad skeptical of the idea that the game could be a 'gateway' onto playing an actual instrument. Nothing against people who play the game, but it's a different thing entirely.

I assume this isn't a recent event, and has been happening ever since the blues were born, but think back to High School and recall that one guy that started learning guitar so that he could pretend he had the rock life and would carry it around during school and play 3 really simple songs all the time? Maybe Guitar Hero could cut back on those type of people, since they can get a much better, easier production at home. And it's cheaper!

I've only played it a handful of times... ain't nothing like a real instrument. But, it would be nice to give the kids a little challenge with a Zappa song or two.

How Could I Be Such A Fool is one song which is not too difficult on guitar (except for the end) and could perhaps be used for such a goodie, but for the fun of it, I'd say: Brown Shoes Don't Make It, Inca Roads, What's New In Baltimore?, or Eat That Question.

I agree with BBP's suggestion of 'What's New In Baltimore?' That one's perfect.

I've never played, but have heard all about it. It does have different settings, like easy, medium, hard and difficult or something like that. FZ had all these.

The Black Page (easy teenage version)

Never played the game and in general, I have'nt played video games since the Super Nintendo days. I actually still have the original Atari in the box. Almost got a PS2 though. I hear Wii and/or XBOX 360 are the way to go nowadays.

I hear ya. I thought I could handle a plethora of buttons on a controller... but, I just suck at it. My progression:

Atari -> NES -> Gameboy -> SNES -> Gamecube -> done.

Considering an Xbox 360... but man, I'm so behind the times... it may not be worth it. The reason why I've considered guitar hero is that there are only 5 buttons hahaha. (yet lame)

The average 'person' needs tuition on air guitar playing
so that when I (and experienced musicians
like yourself) invite them onstage at the
gig/private party/function/wedding
etc ... they at least have some experience
to entertain the audience.

My best guitar solo won't necessarily generate
admiring looks from the audience, but a 9inch afro
wig worn during 'Freak Out' does.

I think my vote would go to I Promise Not To Cum In Your Mouth.

This game perturbed me to start with when my boys (12 and 14) were asking for it. I told them if they wanted the thrill of playing the guitar they should pick up one of the real ones we have about the house and start practising, which would be more fulfilling in the long run. But then I started thinking about all the other xbox games with the weapons and destruction and the blood and the gore and so on and I figured at least it doesn't have that. Also, there is the element of timing and coordination that's similar to sight reading music. Anyway, I wilted and they ended up getting it for Christmas.

And for the thread, Transylvania Boogie would be perfect for Guitar Hero.
