A bunch of '66 pictures or screen captures that I'm not familiar with.

Nice pics 8)

FRANK ZAPPA & THE MOTHERS at the GUAMBO
(Giant Underground Masked Ball & Orgy) Produced by the Los Angeles Free Press
Shrine Exhibition Hall - Los Angeles - 1966
(c) 2008 Robert Carl Cohen

Seems this is the guy that produced Mondo Hollywood... a Relative of Herbie ??

http://www.radfilms.com/cohen_filmography.html

Mondo Hollywood features Booby Jameson who did ROOGALATOR which Frank probably wrote , but definatly played on. Great Song !!

heya kids! go to hulu.com and type in "mondo hollywood"....well, i typed in "frank zappa", and got "mondo..", but you get the idea.
anyway, there's the whole movie, all 2 hours worth--interrupted every once in awhile by a 30 second ad--for your viewing pleasure. don't watch it for frank, 'cause he's only in it for a few moments, just a shot of him singing looking straight into the camera--nearly at the end. actually, gail is in it more than he is. she's seen walking down the beach with bobby jameson, and later (almost at the end) at a party where bobby is singing. at one point, she's staring into space looking...kinda bored. and with some of the people at the shindig, i don't blame her. anyway, the movie is a strange snapshot of the time, definitely a time capsule sort of thing. a bit hard to sit through at times....but great history nonetheless.

If you type 'Mondo Hollywood' into Google Video there is a straight run through of the film. The screen captures or photographs that I referenced earlier in this topic may very well be the footage that should have appeared in this film (I think) which was cut out possibly because Herb Cohen or FZ had a dispute with the film maker. I hope these images suggest that the film footage still exists. I recognise the shirt FZ is wearing, as the MM in London 1967 printed such a group picture of the Mothers when there was excitement that they were coming to play in England.

Is this not the first time that the orchestral score has been heard? It certainly is for me.
I notice Holiday in Berlin beginning at 2.31 minutes 8)

I think this is the first time a taped interview from '66 [just, 22nd December] has turned up. The interviewer is Don Paulsen. A lot of information from this very tape has been part of the Mothers story for years.

Nice one Dip.
I've only listened to part one but I'm loving it.

I get so excited when a new post appears on this thread! 8)

Cheera ND! I have kept a note of how many views the youtubeage there has been, about 20 since I posted. 3 more parts of the interview have been added since I wrote, so very exciting stuff.
