I am looking for Pierre Lattès who was a big presence in French music scene, he might still be around. There is a colour photo of him dans 'Zappa in France' page 34, with FZ. I understand that Jean Bernard Hebey who had a popular RTL radio show is still around, what kind of impact does he have in French culture- I understand he is a big collector and likes to tell people about his obsession.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be most grateful.

I have found out something about Frank Zappa's modus operandi in France. Pierre had something (the details are sketchy) called an ElectroVoice system which FZ used when in Paris. I believe it enabled his concerts to be recorded direct onto shellac (I presume acetate cutting) This I have heard of in the early days of recorded music, but I do not know what this form of DMM offered in 1967-1968. I understand that FZ may have used this method to enable a small run of pressings to be created. I wonder if these pressing were distributed by FZ, and if any of them are still in the archive. I shall endeavour to find out more.

GG, they most certainly a french band-the founder was stranded in France when the UK would not let him in (he is australian).

There are some french connections with FZ that I am exploring, and Gong's record label (BYG 1970-1972) have some interesting links to FZ. If anybody in france has some old Actuel and Best and Rock & Folk magazines that they wish to sell, please get in touch

Sadly I have learn't recently that Alain Dister died a few days ago. He took some historic classic photo's of the Mothers in '66. I contacted him a few months ago if he was at Amougies in Oct '69 (my ongoing research) he emailed back to say that he was in the US during that period.
