I just finished Mike Barnes' Beefheart biography, released in 2004, so the poop has had 5 years to cool, but it's still hotter than the documentary.
Anyway, I got the impression that he was feeling well except for his sclerosis, which makes him wheelchair-bound. I guess he stays inside painting or hanging out with his wife most of the time. He lives separated from any urban area, so it's wild life along with his wife
