This year it's 40 years since Hot Rats was released. Is it just me that thinks that it has to come out like an anniversary edition with like a documentary about the album and unseen-pictures from the studio while recording it and such?

You are absolutely right, 1969 was good times and sad times as the Mothers proper ended. FZ was playing great that year. There is a good case for Bognor Regis to make an appearance on a Hot Rats deluxe. I hope Dweezil considers that this is his record, and makes the appropiate case for a push that this be released later this year.

Hot Rats just might be the one Zappa album I'm looking forward to getting the deluxe treatment the most. Hopefully there are lots of extras in the vault.

The world's finest lp anywhere by anyone at anytime

I think there's enough stuff - a cut or two from Weasels, Chunga, Lost Eps, Quad, etc...

With no fanfare whatsoever, Classic Records arrived at The Consumer Electronics Show (actually at T.H.E. Show at the Alexis Park Hotel) with a 200g edition of Frank Zappa’s Hot Rats. The new release is the first Zappa title from Classic, cut from the original analog master tape.

Zappa’s widow Gail approved and if sales justify more Zappa, Classic will delve further into the rich Frank Zappa catalogue. While it’s true that Patricia Barber, Diana Krall and Jacintha never played with Frank Zappa, many of us are hopeful that audiophiles will respond positively to the release so that more 200g Zappa reissues will follow!

"The highlight here is Zappa's guitar playing, which propels the track. "Hot Rats" became the much loved of all his recordings and one of the all time guitar rock albums. Available now on Classic Records 200 gram vinyl at £29.90 and 140gram vinyl at £21."

£8.90 for 60 additional grammes of Vinyl? Call me cynical. Having never purchased a download, always hunt a vinyl alternative rather than a CD, pour scorn over issues with differential pricing based on quality of the download. I will boycott product from this company. All vinyl should be delivered of the best quality.

"Grundman under the supervision of Gail Zappa. This LP features Classic’s proprietary ultra quiet vinyl formula and our 200g Super Vinyl Profile II pressed on specially outfitted semi automatic presses for maximum sonic fidelity".

What is a semi - automatic press? I would love to know what constitutes such a grade of Vinyl that noise other than the music is absent. Other than that I fear a hype may be present. I thought the cutting process was where the alchemy occurs.

IMHO the main qualities of a 200g thick record are robustness and flatness over possible distortion improvement or noise reduction.
A better flatness should reduce pitch issues which commonly happen with embossed surfaces.
