Really want to get this one; any comments on this performance?

The first half of the disc is comprised of a stage play that was performed with some members of the BBC Symphony Orchestra accompanying the MOI.
One great thing about this CD is that it contains the first release of Agency Man.
The entirety of the second set is fantastic, but track 15-20 are absolutely on the Island album that is discussed in another thread.
If you have heard WRMF, you have already heard a very small portion of this concert. Orange County Lumber Truck is taken from this performance, but rather than cutting the song in the middle of the guitar solo as on WRMF it is included in it's entirety.

I seem to be under the gun, as a thunder storm is rolling in now, so I'll leave it there. You won't regret this purchase.

The stage play is interesting, but I find it grating most of the time, except for the orchestral bits, which is beautiful stuff. And yeah, the second half is "tits" as they say.

I think it's great.

One of favourite Zappa releases. As I love the early incarnation of the Mothers I don't find the first part grating at all, in fact I adore it. The orchestral music in the first half is brilliant, reminiscent of some of the pieces from LG. Some of these pieces were later developed into themes heard on 200 Motels. Art Tripp's percussion is outstanding throughout the whole concert but particularly in the first half. The first piece (Prologue) is a great opener.

Go and get it - you definitely wont be disappointed (Unless you're one of these fans that think that the early Mothers didn't really have much talent)

The soundqualitiy is okay but of course not so good as later recordings, maybe comparable to other MOI-stuff on the You can't...-series. If you already know the mystery disc then you know most of the stuff from the first half, just a little bit edited/shortened (?)(track 21-28, invitation to compare). If you like the orchestral music from FZ, then this disc could be very interesting. Maybe this is FZs first liveshow with classical players and rockband(?). Maybe these are first performances of the classical compositions(?). The second half is only MOI, "fair but not outstanding"(FZ). I prefer the first half, cause mothers with classical players on stage is a really rare and unique experience.
If you are disappointed by the music, then you will maybe love the drawing of the cover done by Cal Schenkel (once again after all the years).
