Hi,

Not sure this is possible ... how you gonna box 75 CD's of music?

And I know I don't have that kind of money to put something on my mantle to show people that I have the best!

I don't think many of us do, either.

And I would rather think that Frank would not like that idea either ...

I already have it all..., and since I collect by music, not packaging, this is something I'd pass on.

Well,
Miles Davis: The Complete Columbia Album Collection
is 70xCD/1xDVD
and the box is 23,5 cm long! So it's possible. All the cd's are in cardboard replicas of the original lp covers, and I need a loupe to read the texts, but it's readable.

It's something I would like to own (and couldn't afford). I wonder exactly who would buy it besided the hardcores?

I remember Ryko offering the whole collection for a special price. I don't remember if this offer included some kind of a "box" in a sense that there was some special packaging and additional material.

So in a way this has already been done. And I think the market for Zappa back catalogue was saturated many years ago. The old fans have their stuff and I doubt that there is measurable interest from younger generations.

I couldn't imagine this box set selling more than 50 copies. Anyone who would want every FZ release more than likely already owns a dozen or so of his albums, which would make buying the box set really redundant.

This kind of reminds me of the big box set boom that hit in the late 80s and early 90s. I actually understand the "complete discography" boxes for bands that have just a handful of albums (Velvet Underground, Steely Dan, etc.), as it was probably a decent way to capitalize on people upgrading from vinyl to CD. However, what I really never understood was the appeal of the 4-CD greatest hits + rarities collections. They're too expensive for casual fans, and they have too much redundant material for hardcore fans.

15.5737704918032 is awful. I might spend 15.5737704918031.

no box set, just 61 individually shrink-wrapped cd's shipped in one package for $950, ~17% off the regular fee

the box'll cost ya an additional $2,175 [8 cd's fewer, free shipping]
