How many genuinely good posthumous recordings does anyone think we are going to get at this point? I guess it is going to be mostly biographical stuff, live recordings and the like?

Might I mull this one over as opposed to just leaping in head first/mouth open?

I shall return. Perhaps in mirrors, perhaps in memories, but ... I shall return.

Lets face it, it's a money issue, after the crash stuff that was getting done or promised slowed or stopped. Also unfortunately while GZ seemed to be doing a great job with everything (except maybe alum issues), hasn't seemed to be able to adjust to the changing times, frankly she is getting along and may not have enough gas in the take to keep it going. I would say the best hope to keep things rolling would be to appoint some younger folks in charge and let them perform with an eye on profiting, yet maintaining quality.

I'm not sure how the vault would not produce plenty of funds if handled more effectively, just thinking out loud... :smoke:

Some of it has to be legal issues as well. I'm sure there are plenty of things that could be released. But if Frank used a snippet of that show in a release {especially one distributed through a third party}, I would be willing to bet that creates legal issues? I don't know. Just thinking out loud, like plook. I'm ready for the next one though. This, I do know.

Joe is still in the vault sifting through the tapes....and there have been a number of promises made and delayed....As Xaviera Hollander once said "Trust me there's plenty more come to come"

IMO, we won't see any major releases again. We've got 20 years of posthumous material already, which is a fuck of a lot of music. Live shows are always welcome, as well as the rare oddity. But I think that's about it. Prove me wrong please.

Yep, this is all. He had a good run, posthumous-wise. Oh well.

What is the definition of a major release? All GZ criticisms aside, the ZFT has released a lot of stuff over the last 10 years or so and IMO it's all good in varying degrees. I haven't really seen any signs of them slowing down either. Keep 'em coming I say. I have no complaints.

Very easy question: IMHO a major release is an album that was finished by Zappa himself like trance fusion for instance. Understanding america was also an album of that kind and no fan even knew that it exists till it was released. Dance me this is still waiting for its release (and some little weazel told me that calculus will be my favourite track on it). Maybe this will be the really last original album, who knows? But before the day of its release comes, nobody can say that this was it for Frank Zappa.
And of course more MOFO-type releases are still welcome as well as complete concerts, everybody is still waiting for the roxy videos and what ever. the only threat was if the Zappas ran out of money. In this case u really could say: this is it for FZ.
