It's no secret that there are hundreds of bootleg recordings out there of Zappa concerts. It's also no secret that Frank had recorded a great many of his live performances. If there were a concert that could be considered to have everything including great versions of songs and monster solos it would be the New Years Eve 1977 concert at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion.

If there is a recording of that concert in the Zappa Family vaults, I encourage the ZFT to get to work on releasing that one.

Hello bosixbahn, ZFT key communications here. Just sitting around leafing through
old evaporating setlists and sticky vhs tapes. This vault is really not the luxurious
treasure trove that you may have envisioned, LOL!

Anyhoozies, i have made a note of your non-secret opinion/request.
In fact, I scribbled it here on the side of a box of old stage debris.

Thank you for your interest and please hang in there as I will try to do the same!

Requests are a waste of time. Just sit back and wait, and hope you don't die before you get to hear the next one. We aren't getting any younger.

I'm pretty sure we are on our own on this site, they check the mail, someone occassionally answers the front door, and they throw out some dog food once in a while...

This I can work with.

Impossibly Easy Taco Pie!

Ingredients
1 pound lean ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
1 package (1 ounce) taco seasoning mix
1 can (4.5 ounces) chopped green chiles, drained
1 cup milk
2 eggs
1/2 cup Original Bisquick™ (or generic) mix
3/4 cup shredded Monterey Jack or Cheddar cheese (3 ounces)
Salsa (any variety)
Sour cream, if desired

Directions
1 Heat oven to 400°F. Grease 9-inch pie plate. Cook ground beef and onion in 10-inch skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until beef is brown; drain. Stir in seasoning mix (dry). Spoon into pie plate; top with chilies.
2 Stir milk, eggs and Bisquick mix until blended. Pour into pie plate.
3 Bake about 25 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake 8 to 10 minutes longer. Cool 5 minutes. Serve with salsa and sour cream.

As Plook would say: " :smoke: "

You know it's funny
but I was watching an old youtube clip of Joe walking the viewer
through the vault....you know, casually picking reels up and
pointing them out ...and I'm like "ya! Stupids!...how about
releasing THAT ONE right there in YOUR HAND?"

Oh well......I guess I just don't understand how all this works...

I think a lot of it is budgetary. They just don't have the money to release something more frequent. And it's not like they are selling in the hundreds of thousands.

I'm like jeddy. I was watching Joe go through the vault on the Classic Albums DVD last night, and thinking the same thing. Unfortunately, calvin is probably the voice of reason. The market for Zappa's music just isn't large enough to release everything that we think is worthy of release. My obsession with Beefheart is taking the sting out of the fact that the year is almost over, and we only have one release so far. Even though, that release is awesome.

Dare I say without crossing some line, what maybe several people are thinking...would the trust do better with the vault if they worked a deal with a backer and got funding to roll out the projects, maybe a deal with some distribution outfits...or am I watching to much Sharktank... :?

Have you checked out any of the1975 boots with beefheart and Zappa? Orange claw hammer is one of my favorite beefheart songs from that tour. More than almost anything I would love for the vault to release a full show of that tour.

GENTLEMEN, I can only do so much over here, given limited time and resources.
I don't want to bellyache too much, but I am running around in circles... on a very short leash.
Things will get done, hopefully sooner than later. Please try to remain patient and (try) understanding.

chomping at the bit,
Ronny
