I doubt the instrumental version will ever see an official CD release. I agree, it's a shame. I LOVE the vinyl version - it's one of my favourite albums. I was so disappointed when it finally came out on CD with the vocals all over it. That's what Frank wanted though...

I've said it before - KEEP YOUR TURNTABLES! ;)

;) I think this might be the germ for a new series of releases - "the original versions, vol 1. A compilation of the original vinyl releases that were later revamped for CD use."
blah blah blah.
But really, I would love to hear Sleep Dirt w/o the vocals. It's something I havn't heard. That's a CD that I pull out when I really want to scream at the world and crank the Bose 901's as loud as they'll go. Better than meds
WHat's the problem - there is Lather with 'Spider..', 'Time..' and 'Flambe' without vocals? Come on people, we need some NEW stuff.

:o After catching this thread, I decided to give it another serious listinging, but now with a fresher perspective. Conclusion: I can't imagine the non-vocal being more interesting. Frank, u made a great decision!

"Time is money, and space is a long time." fz paraphrased.

"Filthy Habits" adn "Oceans" gives a whole perspective of what a power trio is. ;)

WOW!

I got the vinyl version last week, never been played. Even by me! My amp was sold before I got the vinyl and so I hav't heard it.

If the premise is that the vinyl version does not have those lyrics then I am one happy bunny!

Since I'm in the "release a much ZF as possible" camp, both versions are necessary.

The instrumental version, however, is superior.
Are All Of you High? All Tracks from the Sleep Dirt vinyl (except for "Sleep Dirt") are INCLUDED on the Läther triple-cd set, and THE SONG SLEEP DIRT ON THE SLEEP DIRT CD IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS ON THE SLEEP DIRT VINYL! IF YOU WANT THE VINYL MIX, GET Läther!
The Läther version of "Flambay" is almost 3 minutes shorter than the original Sleep Dirt version.
