Hello, looks like they got you all jammed in here don't they ;)

I'm a huge FZ fan (biggest I know of, but not as big as some here I bet.) Joe's Garage is my favorite Zappa album. I bought it and fell in love with the day before he died, and that was all it took. Now I'm hooked.. I worked for Steve Vai for a few years, so he helped fuel my FZ fixes and I even got to talk to Dweezil a couple of times too :) I'm a musician from Lawrence, KS and now I live in LA, CA.

Anyway,

My quesion is:

What are the names of all the CD/ LP/ Tapes in the Beat The Boots Box Sets 1 & 2 (if there are anymore boxes, those too)

I've got a complete Zappa collection except for the BTB sets and Its been one of my missions to get everything thats been released and I'm almost there.

Thank in advance for any info.

i puchased picantique a few years ago....i'd label it classic low budget zappa...the mix doesn't have all the perfectionist tweakings we take for granted from frank ....

if you have the original albums it's definately worth scooping up a few of the boots for comparison and conceptual continuity

MTF...just noticed the new avatar text... ;D....nothin but the best for my dawg

Uh Cheesus Crust, now he's spamming threads that he didn't start, the infection is spreading and we need to stop it, or ignore it. Also I know nothing about the "Beat the Boot" box sets, sorry I can't help.

90 % of all boots just sound so crappy , it just wrecks a good thing , some collect em all though - not me , the number of good quality recordings is limited i guess till some techno whizz figures how to digi - manipulate a muddy boot into roxy or summit - i live in hope

mungo

I am hard pressed to ustify te purchase of inferior quality at retial prices (boots) but evry one in a while I can resist the urge. I am happy that the Zappa folks are cleaning up and releasing some of this stuff

I've bought several of the Rhino "Boots" cd's and some are decent quality whilst others aren't . I've steered clear of the unofficial bootlegs as of yet , but dunno whether I'll change my mind in the future , as and when I complete the entire FZ collection (only a few to go) . The ZFT vault could banish the problem of shitty recordings if they released some of the better quality recorded stuff as a few of you have said (FZ-OZ being an example) as I believe there's still a market for "new" FZ stuff . What's gonna stop you & me buying bootlegs and cleaning up the sound ourselves on our PC's with specialist software (if & when it becomes cheap & easily available) and flogging it ourselves to make a few quid ? Wouldn't be bothered doing that myself BUT might I buy it if it sounded good and was not "officially" available . I know a lot of you won't buy the bootlegs but is that because of the current piss-poor quality OR your principles ??
