Robert Fripp is rereleasing his first solo album "Exposure"
in May as a 2 CD set with the original vinyl mix on the 1st CD
and the mid-'80s reissue and some bonus tracks on the other
CD.

Wouldn't that be a great idea  for the ZFT? They could put out
a double CD version of Hot Rats with the vinyl mix, the mid-'80s mix, and
"Bognor Regis" plus hopefully some other previously unreleased
material.

If this is successful, they could follow suit with "The Man From Utopia" and "Cruisin'".

Supposedly Dweezil has also found a 10-minute version of Peaches En Regalia in the vault, with an unknown extended middle section. I also wonder if a 'take one' of the Gumbo Variations still exists and is releasable...

It would make a cool release, I'd guess, perhaps pad it with a couple of live tracks from the Hot Rats tour as well.

I've been saying this for years.

Yeah but unfortunatly he is supposed to play his own solo over it or some shit. It's a nice idea and everything and who are we tell him what he can do with the tapes?? He owns them. BUT I would also hope that the original untouched version would also be included for comparison.

Cough - I think Dweezil knows us well enough to know if he put that on a FZ release instead of the original, we'd be screaming for blood. Personally, I say, put the overdubbed version on one of his releases, and put the original on a FZ release. 8)

I'm all for this kind of reissue. But I think it should be a box set, not just a two-disc set. I've been saying this for years. I'd love to hear "The Complete Hot Rats Sessions." Or any "Complete Sessions" box of FZ's music. 8)

Hey, how am I supposed to get a reference that obscure? I don't care about childrens' clothing brands!

When I was a young kid, I wasn't looking to see what brand of clothes I wore! In fact, I still don't look to see what brand of clothes I wear! Only self-centered and stupid yuppies care about the brand of clothing they or their children wear. If it fits the person, it's fine. Forget about the brand name.

Yes, you're right. You ARE an idiot.

Considering the fact that you waste posts to bother us with discussions on obscure brands of childrens' clothing, you should probably be questioning your own intelligence.

It was sarcasm, you putz. It was a comment on the fact that very few people other than yourself care about or have heard of that brand of children's clothing. And yes, I did look it up before I posted. I just wanted to comment on the fact that that brand is so freaking obscure. :D

And, no, "Sanford and Son" isn't obscure. I do get that reference. The reason I didn't get the "Garanimals" reference is because I don't devote myself to the study of obscure childrens' clothing fads, like you do.

Ah, no, I'm afraid you've given us Jaypfunk's IQ number instead. Better luck next time.

ANYWAYS,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

BACK TO THE TOPIC

I think this is a good idea. As Isaac was saying about the 3 discs, the 3rd one will be a a DVD-A of BOTH mixes, plus the extra stuff.

This is a GOOD idea! As Isaac was saying, the 3rd disc will be all the audio in Surround Sound on DVD-A

That's not what I was saying at all. I was suggesting that the ZFT put out a box set of material culled from original sessions for classic Zappa albums; each box set having three or four discs of material from the original album (CD and vinyl mixes) plus bonus tracks, all the material spread out over the discs, not two discs with original vinyl mixes and CD remixes on two seperate discs with bonus material on the second disc along with a third disc for DVD-A versions of the same material. You're getting my words mixed up. What I said was, spread EVERYTHING out to three or four discs. Include material from both vinyl and CD versions, plus all songs and outtakes from the sessions that created these albums.

Since you don't listen to Miles Davis, you wouldn't know what I was talking about, but I essentially wanted a release like The Complete Bitches Brew Sessions, which has everything from the original album, plus different material (or The Complete In a Silent Way Sessions, which has both CD and vinyl mixes of the material on the original album, plus never-before-heard material). I wasn't spouting all this nonsese about going about and including a bonus DVD-A in addition to two discs with the vinyl and CD mixes seperately. Where'd you pick that up from?

No, you bloody well haven't. When looking over dead threads on the old board, I've seen Jaypfunk campaigning for this set for quite some time. You definitely weren't asking for this bounty when I joined.

This is what you do Isaac - plaigarise opinions, claim them as your own, and demand to be exalted for putting forward a groundbreaking notion.
