The scatologically experimental progressive-rock polymath accessorised his Sonny Bono special with a devilish triangular lip-cosy so distinctive that Zappa is recognisable in even the crudest line drawing.

I can understand Crosby. His is pretty iconic. It's having McCartney so high that boggles my mind. What was so special about his? He only had a stache during the Sgt. Pepper period anyway. Beards shouldn't count.

Also, Ron Mael should be higher, but that's probably just the Sparks fan in me talking.

Frank should be #1 since you only need the stash & patch and folks know it's FZ, doesn't even require any other facial image...as to Paul you must not be old enough to remember that any hair change by the Beatles (facial or otherwise) was big doins and every wanna be cool dude would follow suit. I know that Paul’s stash has not with stood the test of time but all the Beatles looks were copied by millions, so that stash is the token Beatle for the list.

But they all had mustaches on Sgt. Pepper! Why does Paul get the honor? If anybody, Ringo or George should get it since they kept theirs around longer.

It was a token and Paul is alive and maybe the most beloved Beatle (not to take anything away from John).

Gotta admit....Frank's facial hair was far more distinctive than pretty much anyone else in that top 10.

It sounds like Sonny Bono Had his Moustach Before Zappa Falsh.
I think Arthur Brown should be on the list and the one From Band Ten Years After
