Anyone see this? It's running on HBO. Some of it isn't bad. For example, Jeff Beck sounds great jamming with Stevie Wonder, and it was nice to see Vinnie in Jeff's band. I love shows like this.

Everytime we picked a booger we'd flip it on this one winduh. Every night we'd contribute, 2, 3, 4 boogers. We had to use a putty knife, man, to get them damn things off the winduh. There was some goober ones that weren't even hard...

I had HBO for a few moments last night and caught Metallica acting as the Hall Of Fame house band for a song or two. Not bad. Kirk Hammett playing his one solo over Sweet Jane while James Hetfield outsings Lou Reed on his own song.......strange bedfellows indeed.

OK. I went to both nights and really enjoyed it. The lineup was obviously and decidedly "mainstream" but it was a ton of fun. The first night was a looong show. Started at 7:30 or so and didn't end until after 1:30. This is MSG we are talking about, not the bottom line.

At 12:55 it seemed Springsteen's set was about to end. I said here comes Born to Run and then the show will be over. Instead Billy Joel came about and then did about another 40 minutes of music. Now, these acts are not exactly my first cup of tea (I'd never seen Springsteen, Billy Joel, Metallica, etc) but there was something to be said for being there and I did enjoy it a lot, particularly Jeff Beck's set (I'm a big fan). Seeing all the guests play with one another was really novel. Simon and Garfunkel were really well received, as you can imagine, since it was in NYC.

I even got to watch the Yankees close out game 2 of the world series in the hallway with 100 other yankee fans before Springsteen's set. Had the Let's Go Yankees chant going and everything. Very "New York" moment.
