DZ has commented during shows about bringing the music of FZ to the "younger" generation.

So, are there any FZ fans here who were not FZ fans before December 4, 1993?

Is there anyone who hadn't even heard of FZ before December 4, 1993?

I got into Zappa in early 1994 after I read a memorial article in Guitar World magazine (great article by the way. I think it was the March or April 1994 issue with Dimebag Darrell on the cover.) I had never been exposed to any of his music before I read that article. None of my friends listened to him either. Fast forward 15 years (from 1994). I love his music. None of my friends listen to him either (must have wax in their ears or something. I don't know what their problems are....)

I first became aware of Frank's music in 1995... Although I have heard of him before. Actually I used to think he played soccer with us in my early teens...

Proud fan since spring 2001. I was either 18 or about to turn 18 when Zappa marched into my life. And he's still there!!

Started listening to Frank Zappa back in 1984 a friends older sister was playing us a Cassette of Frank that she had just purchased which was Apostrophe. That stuff was great & we are all still collecting Franks music as well as what Dweezil has put out.

I did start listening to FZ after that sad day of december 1993, but that was not because of Dweezil, but because of the indoctrination from my own father ;-)

Would be curious to know just how many NEW fans Dweezil recruited just from touring ZPZ the last few years...

It seems I have read in reviews and posts several new fans postings after seeing a ZPZ show and I would imagine that the ones that made it to this site would only be a small sampling of the actual new found listeners.

Does that make sense??? :?

I've been a fan since 7th grade, so i guess it was 2004. I'm 18 years old and have been to three ZPZ show's and can't wait to see another!

I first heard Zappa after being a Vai fan for a year I wanted to hear his early stuff and I listened to the Stricly Commercial album. Now I own over 20 Zappa albums ranging from Freak Out, Yellow Shark, Man From Utopia, to Buffulo.

My 16 yr old son is now a huge fan. I did it the backwards way, by listening to Frank when Will was in the house and when he came by out of curiosity, I turned it down or off and told him he was too young to listen to it. I also mentioned that he shouldn't listen to any of his CDs that were in my collection.

Worked like a charm. Kids ... LOL. Will's favorite albums are Chunga's Revenge and Weasels Ripped My Flesh. If he's anything like me when I was that age (1972), he'll be infecting the other kids soon enough. Hope for the future, eh?

Been a fan since 67, hard core since 73. But Dweezil is right; there have been a lot of younger fans in the ZPZ shows I've attended.

I guess I qualify as a new fan since I started listening to Zappa in 1996.
I was 16yrs old and one of my 'older' friends (around 20 at the time) sat me down and played me the Freak Out album.
FFWD to 2010--I'm now 30 and Frank is my favorite musician of all time.

So he appears to be trying to remove either the baby shit or hobo shit from his nose...alas it seems from reading his posts he could not remove himself from the crap, which has been detected.

It's spam. !!!! Spammers get everywhere these days.

Babyshitorhoboshit got called out as a SPAMMER on the DZ site by one of his friends, that makes at least a half dozen here and counting with others smelling something too. This so called creative writing reads just like that SPAM shit and its just plane jibberish. I wouldn't be surprized if he either knows or is friends with Sabrecrapairy, since there bullshit is cut from the same cloth. My crapdetector went off the first time I read their posts, they just did not have the ring of authenticity.

He has since changed it & I'm sure that's what John was talking about but I could be wrong.

I've only been a fan for ~6 years, but I know very few people my age who are fans. One of my friends listens to Uncle Meat on occasion, but not much else by Zappa, and another friend of mine has only heard a few songs off of Sheik Yerbouti. Ah well...

Well, considering I was born in 91, I couldn't possibly have been a fan in '93. But I don't consider myself a new fan since I got into him when I was 11 years old and he's been my biggest musical influence ever since..
