At the Baltimore show on 15 Jan Dweezil mentioned that future projects/objects include a Zappa "boot camp," where regular schlubs can get together and learn more about FZ's music, and maybe even play some with the band. I see nothing on the websites about this. Who's got info?

Musical Bootcamp!

In the Summer of 2010 we will be launching a new venture. For lack of a better term or description it will be a musical bootcamp. It's so new it doesn't even have a proper name yet, but it will!

It will be a fun filled and educational weekend event in the Catskills where musicians of all ages and skill levels will be able to attend private lessons and seminars from all of the members of the Zappa Plays Zappa band.

We've enjoyed our musical journey through touring these past 4 years and would be happy to share some of our knowledge on a wide range of musical topics to help you improve your skills and give you a better understanding of the music industry. Full schedule and curriculum are still being designed.

Any one interested in participating in this Summer camp experience is kindly asked to fill out the Bootcamp questionnaire. It contains questions about what people are seeking to learn from the different ZPZ band members. It will also gauge skill levels so we can arrange the classes properly.

The Questionnaire will be ready shortly. Keep your eyes open for it right here.

More info about the site can viewed here at http://www.fullmoonresort.com

I discussed the concept of the school in this recent article in Premier Guitar. Feel free to read more about it.

Update :

What is DWEEZILLA music boot camp?

DWEEZILLA is a 4 day 5 night music boot camp designed to expand the harmonic horizons of both amateur and professional musicians alike.

What DWEEZILLA is not:

It is not a fantasy camp where students get to "Jam" on Frank Zappa tunes for hours on end. Nor is it a Zappa specific curriculum. Many styles of music will be offered for discussion and study.

Have you ever wondered how you could drastically improve your musical skills in a short period of time? Have you ever wanted to improve your ability to improvise? Ever wish you could learn these techniques from experienced professionals and have fun in the process?

DWEEZILLA will be able to answer all of these questions and many more.

Set in the Catskills at the beautiful Full Moon Resort, DWEEZILLA workshops will commence Monday June 21, 2010 and finish Thursday June 24, 2010. Attendees will have access to multiple daily workshops presented by Dweezil Zappa and individual members of his core band.

Dweezil Zappa: Lead Guitar
Joe Travers: Drums
Pete Griffin: Bass
Scheila Gonzales: Saxophone/Keyboards and Flute
Jamie Kime: Guitar
Billy Hulting: Percussion/Mallets

"I have been inspired to create an opportunity to give back to the musical community and the fans that have supported my musical heritage. Because of my own auto didactic journey and musical growth what was once impossible has become possible for me. "

"I decided to create a diverse music boot camp for people of all skill levels hoping to increase their musical prowess. It would make me very happy if I could help a fellow musician take their skills to the next level."

- Dweezil Zappa

Every workshop is structured to accommodate students of all skill levels. Nightly events will include concerts, jam sessions, and other fun filled social activities.

For more information on how you can reserve your spot and participate in this musical adventure please contact Amy Carpenter Amy@fullmoonresort.com

Many package deals are available from camping on site to full luxury accommodations with meals included. Detailed pricing lists are available upon request. Amy Carpenter will help you choose a package that fits your budget. She's also a member of dweezilzappaworld.com so you can reach out to her anytime.

Email from both sites this one & that one.

Dweezil's site has had about 120 or more new Members in the last 24 hours since you have to sign up to the site to fill out a Questionnaire for the Boot Camp.

But will Robert Martin be there to teach them how to look good naked at any age?

The cash outlay for that camp is tremendous.
