What are you all doing to about Zappa's classical stuff?
I listen to it with a great deal of interest and enjoyment and tell people that it's pretty good.
My latest revelation is the orchestral Sinister Footwear from 1984 (Berkeley), which I downloaded from iTunes. That version is far from perfect, sonically and otherwise - but it shows that it's an amazing and unique piece which in a good sounding, optimal performance would reveal itself as a true masterpiece of 20th Century composed music.
But the piece is so damn hard to play, and Berkeley 1984 was such a financial disaster (I gather), that I fear many more eons will pass before we get that beauty right.
