So with your logic we have to many cars, last I looked many more people are killed in car wrecks yearly than guns, so why not ban cars? So when you want to kill a mass of people fill the car with explosives or not and drive into a crowd and kill many

You can't hide a car in your pocket or under your coat to rob a bank or shoot up a school.

Ironically, it's more difficult and requires more paperwork and registrations to obtain cars than it is guns.

Also, there have been only two high profile instances within the United States where cars will loaded with explosives ad used to for mass murders. The first WTC bombing and Oklahoma City. Both insances were carried out by organized terrorist groups, not individuals.

The cars versus guns debate is an old loser that is frequently used by anti-gun control advocates.

Another way to look at it is that cars are neessary for everyday life. Guns aren't.

Finally, there are far more instances of guns being used with the intent to kill large groups of people than cars being used for the intentto kill people.

Consider this another debunked myth by gun advocates.

i'm not trying to justify guns by pointing out the fact that cars kill more people than guns. Again by your logic that you can't hide a car in your coat shows how much more dangerous and lethal a car is.Sometimes you can see it coming or maybe not, but they are much more available, even to an adolescent, more discrete, just like they are used in iraq ,iran, and any where. So to further my point you need to get a grip, but then we know now that you have been Issac all along, now be .careful when you cross the road. Think a little let's say no body has a gun, ya think that will keep some nut job from mass murder? Don't forget to take the keys out of your car.

Ok. I'll play along...

True, more people die from car accidents than gun accidents. Also true, more people die from gun homicides than vehicular homicide.

Ae you talking guns or cars? I don't undserstand the point you are trying to make with this sentence. This sentence looks like a drunk person typed it.

You want to add to the pot?

I'll refer you to a pro-gun advocates statment regarding the use of cars versus guns argument ----------> http://www.philipbrewer.net/2012/07/23/ ... rsus-cars/

Quote:
I’m one of those annoying people who always responds to any suggestion that we “do something” about gun violence or terrorism by pointing out that we allow 40,000 motor vehicle deaths per year, and that maybe we should do something about that problem first.

I don’t do this for tactical reasons. (I recognize that, as a tactic, this argument is a dead loser.)

...but I suppose that now you'll suddenly say that a pro-gun advocate is wrong, right?

Who doesn't believe that there are tens of millions of gun related casualties?...

Here's one source.

http://www.history.navy.mil/library/onl ... lty.htm#t7

Over 14 million in Vietnam alone. So much for that pathetic argument.

WWII -

http://www.archives.gov/research/arc/ww ... asualties/

You guys do realise that when I said tens of millions, that that was a conservative estimate, right?

If you're going to argue gun facts with me, you might want to brush up on gun history first. Here's a good place to start...

http://armscollectors.com/gunhistorydates.htm

One more point I'll address in this post...

Several posts back in this thread, somebody commented about the high gun related murder rate in Chicago and how they believe that stricter gun laws don't work (to put it into kinder words other than the ones he directed towards me...including according to him, a 1 in 99 chance that he'll see how nicely his gun barrels fit into my mouth  )...

Quote:
Murders fall 42 percent in America's deadliest city: Chicago

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/04 ... cago?lite&

So much for that hypothesis...

So now we're equating uniformed soldiers with mass murderers ???

This was your quote :For every car bomb that has been successfully used to kill or injure large crowds of people...I can think of two high profile instances, both carried out by organized terrorists working in groups...there are tens of millions of gun related deaths.

Are the car bombers you researched wearing uniforms ??

That's almost as simplistic as saying ' every person that breaths , will at some time , stop.' :|

Don't you think the reason the United States has the best equipped military is partly because of the firepower they have ?

You need to understand that militarys exist because of things like wars. The more firepower they have , and the more damage they can cause and is an asset to the fighting force against it's foe. This lessens the damage done to their own troops.

The same can almost be said about a mass murderer.

One has the consent of a government behind it , the other does not.

How could any sane person equate the two ??
That's a stretch even for hypocritical demon crats like you space dust.

Kid , quit drinking the Kool-Aid and god forbid that any of your younger relatives might be called up for a future draft.

If you had your way , your relative would be carrying a pea shooter instead of something real.

Come to think about it , our military could be mass murderers at that. :?

Waco , Tx and Ruby Ridge come to mind, as well.

Yeah , that's it. Let's take ALL the guns away and only let the military industrial complex hex have them.

Someone should write an amendment to that.

Yep.

During his first tenure, he called in the Ohio National Guard to quell the Kent State protests, which resulted in the deaths of 4 students. ...just like the cars versus guns argument...

This may be the first actual documented school shooting in America...

A DISQUISITION PORTRAYING THE HISTORY RELATIVE
TO THE ENOCH BROWN INCIDENT

Address presented by
Glen L. Cump, Secretary
Enoch Brown Park Association

This address was presented on August 1, 1992 at the Enoch Brown Park
on the opening day of Old Home Week.
The park was the local landmark commemorated on the badges.

August 4, 1885 was indeed a red letter day for Mother Antrim. The long wish for rain came down in torrents the two previous days. It was feared the weather would be unfavorable for the festivity planned, but there never dawned a lovelier day. Nearly five thousand people assembled on this hallowed ground to show respect and share in the dedication ceremony and unveiling of the monument to honor the memory of School Master Enoch Brown and eleven scholars: Ruth Hale, Eben Taylor, George Dustan, Archie McCullough and six others whose names were not known at that time, who were maimed and massacred in this grove on July 26, 1764...

Regardless of what side of the debate you're on,I highly recomend checking out this link. History is quite a fascinating subject.

The same shit, different century. -----> http://www.greencastlemuseum.org/Local_ ... /enoch.htm

Violence begets violence. As early as 1763, a white gang, the Paxton Boys, murdered six Indians; and then a few days later, killed fourteen members of a peace-loving Indian settlement that for more than seventy years had lived at Conestoga near Lancaster.

250 years later, and we still haven't learned. How many more kids will end up getting killed until we, as a society grow the balls to tell the gun industry and the NRA to go fuck themselves? :P

According to the Maris poll, a clear majority of Americans want stricter gun laws.

Yes. Quite possibly the first U.S. school shooting.

Wrong:

1700s
(U.S. Population: Less Than 4M)
The earliest known United States shooting to happen on school property was the Pontiac's Rebellion school massacre on July 26, 1764, where four Lenape American Indians entered the schoolhouse near present-day Greencastle, Pennsylvania, shot and killed schoolmaster Enoch Brown, and killed nine or ten children (reports vary). Only three children survived.

1850s
(U.S. Population: 23M-31M)
November 2, 1853: Louisville, Kentucky, The student Matthew Ward bought a pistol in the morning, went to school and killed the schoolmaster Mr. Butler, as revenge for what Ward thought was excessive punishment of his brother the day before. Ward was acquitted.

September 11, 1859: Oakland, California, Edward Carpenter accidentally shot himself dead while hunting on campus; he was one of the few students permitted to have a firearm at school.

and the list goes on...
