The Zappa Family Trust will close out 2013 with a series of events honoring legendary composer Frank Zappa. This will also mark the beginning of the ZFT’s own “Year of Zappa” from December 4, 2013 to December, 21 2014, details of which will be revealed in the coming months.

The year 2013 will end with events celebrating the 40th anniversary of Frank Zappa’s acclaimed “Roxy & Elsewhere” release, which will be reissued on vinyl on December 10, together with “Uncle Meat”, another classic Zappa album.

The legendary December 1973 shows at the Roxy in Los Angeles were also filmed for a never before seen Live at the Roxy concert movie. In addition, Dweezil Zappa will perform three “Zappa Plays Zappa” shows–December 7, 8 and 9–commemorating the three dates (December 8, 9 and 10, 1973) Frank Zappa and the Mothers performed there 40 years ago. If we can expect a showing of the Roxy concert film around that time is still unknown.

Meanwhile, the “Roxy by Proxy” CD which was announced for September should finally be available before the end of the month.

Last night (Wednesday, October 23, 2013) the L.A. Philharmonic will marked the 10th anniversary date of the opening of Walt Disney Concert Hall with a special program presenting the world premiere of Zappa’s “200 Motels”. The event will be repeated with a different line-up at Royal Festival Hall in London on Tuesday 29 October 2013.

Hopefully. The Roxy & Uncle Meat vinyls are also due in December.

My timeline guesstimate for release dates/events still unknown:

Dec. 4, 2013 ~ Live At The Roxy world concert film premiere, w/ former Zappa alumni from said era in attendance

Spring 2014 ~ Road Tapes, Venue #2 (Finlandia-talo, Helsinki, 8-23-73) CD release

Sep. 19, 2014 ~ Frank Zappa Day 3.0, Baltimore, MD

Fall 2014 ~ Zappa Plays Zappa 2013-2014 R&E tour DVD release
~ London Roundhouse annual celebrations

Dec. 21, 2014 ~ Live At The Roxy DVD/CD release

Let's see if it happens. Either way I bet there will be lots of interesting documentaries made about Zappa to come out soon due to it being the 20th anniversary of his death on 04/12/13.

Is the BBC's '200 Motels' going to be released for international consumption, or do I have to wait for the bootlegs to show up on Ebay? :smurf:

There was going to be a Zappafest in the UK, but the Zappatistas weren't available till this year so it was put back to accommodate them, now they can't make it until next year. I was invited out of retirement to take part. I said yes on the grounds that I don't think it's gonna happen. :smoke:

75 years, good a reason as any. Anyway, I'm cool with 2 discs a year, which we got in 2014 (and then some).
