Tommy Mars
Keyboards from 1977 to 1982, part of Zappa's touring band, appeared in the movie Baby Snakes, and recorded on a number of Zappa albums.

1978 auditioned for FZ, worked as his principal drummer for studio and live performances - played on Tinsel Town Rebellion, Joe's Garage, and Shut Up 'n Play Yer Guitar etc.
(dreamed of drum sounds that would irritate a so called fan kinda guy...)

"another great italian" - born Al Laurence Dimeola, July 22, 1954 in New Jersey - acclaimed American jazz fusion and Latin jazz guitarist and composer etc, performed with FZ at a concert at the Ritz in New York, 11/17/81. Di Meola refused a couple of releases with FZ (e.g. Clownz on Velvet).

The above is slightly inaccurate. Having failed the audition (because he couldn't play straight rock and roll music), Don did not join the band until the making of Album #2. The piano players on Album #1 are Eugene Di Novi, Les McCann, and Mac Rebennack (a/k/a Dr. John), and they weren't even members of the band. They were considered part of The Mothers' Auxiliary.

The original keyboardist of MOI is Van Dyke Parks, having joined the band in September 1966, which is subsequent to the release of Album #1. Don Preston joined the band, shortly thereafter.
