Hi! just putting a tiny but exciting bug in yer ear,
any word on Ahmet going for the Oct or Dec shows?
Not by any stretch do I think last May's troupe would need any help . . . but, in the spirit of 'the more the merrier', eh?
wouldn't THAT be fun?

I just read the very interesting article in the Reader's Digest, May 2007, Hooked on Comics, by Ahmet Zappa, which led me to find this forum.

His story of his childhood and his dyslexia is very interesting. I hope he can help others with his condition, who might otherwise not get help.

that's a real interesting story. I had no idea. That's really fantastic that he turned that around for himself. Shows a ton of courage in this day and age in the west. SUPER!
and I like his book, it's a GREAT kid's story!

Ahmet posted a new song on his myspace page about missing his father
(Help Me See). When ya click on the song a photo portrait of Frank & Ahmet appears. It's heartbreaking.

Well done Ahmet (and to 'anoldlady') for bringing this issue to attention. This reminds me of FZ 'Why Johnny can't read' which I believe is the tale of a guy in the States who managed to hide his inabilty to read and get a job as a college lecturer, by his skill and cleverness in getting 'round this. But ultimately he had to confront the problem when he got found out.

I wish Ahmet well and I hope this has given him the confidence to overcome tackle other obstacles. His dad would be very proud

I have his book and I love it!

My Daughter did it as her end of the year book report. Now she goes on to middle school. She got an A plus!

I Love Ahmet! He is such a wonderful guy. Definitely my favorite Zappa!

disney is getting into the graphic novel business
with a plan to adapt the works into movies

may-29-08 los angeles [hollywood reporter] - walt disney studios has created kingdom comics, and signed a multiyear deal with writer-actor ahmet zappa, tv executive h.katleman & writer-editor c.beranek to oversee the division; the aim is to create titles that will be the basis of new film projects for the studio as well as to reimagine and rejuvenate movies from disney's library of live-action films

no writers or artists have been announced, though the trio is on the hunt for new and established talent to create the books; kingdom, which will be located on the disney lot, has a first-look deal with disney publishing worldwide to distribute the publications…if disney chooses not to publish a book, kingdom will explore other venues, also, there is no set number of graphic novels that are mandated to be published per year, the studio will pluck titles, putting them into development on a case-by-case basis

the creation of kingdom comics positions the studio as a player in the scorching comic book scene; many studios have aligned themselves to the big companies -- warner bros owns dc comics, marvel has a distribution deal with paramount, universal has a first-look deal with dark horse comics -- leaving very few players up for grabs; it also will put the company in business with established and untapped talent in what essentially will be a r&d division
