I love the original version of the torture never stops, the one with captain beefheart, but I'm always disappointed to hear it fading both in cheap thrills and in YCDTOSA4. Is there a cd with it in its entirety? Or is there any chance to see it released anytime?

Thanks galoot, but I was referring to the live version, the one included in the 2 records I mentioned. I think it's from a date in austin, in 1975. It's very different, also because captain beefheart sings lead in it.
If gail is listening, is there a chance to listen to it in its glorious entirety?

you've gotta hear the unreleased version. there was almost always this huge monster jam after the lyrics were done.

you would have to find the appropriate thread for a gig with that performance, then post asking for someone to re-seed the torrent, then you can download it!

this one looks a good candidate - http://www.zappateers.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=8973

alternatively, this great page http://tela.sugarmegs.org/sugaree/ has a date from that tour that torture was played (27/4/75), but no! the show here is the early show when it wasn't played, d'oh!

the other 1975 show on that page is the great el paso show with jimmy carl black guesting, but torture wasn't played then either.

keep searching..

EDIT:-

later that day !!! ok ... 5 minutes later,

that great page above with all the live shows, has a streaming version with some extra stuff not on the download page, just to confuse matters, and i've found a show with torture played in 1975!

hopefully this will work for you  http://tela.sugarmegs.org/_asxtela/Fran ... -04-19.asx

:)

I noticed! That was the first concert I've heard with Captain Beefheart and yes I enjoyed it very much (I haven't heard Bongo Fury yet.)

Also, that sugarsmegs site is great. Thanks! :D
