from another thread...

dove_grey wrote:
there's a song from the musical guys and dolls that goes,"adelaide, adelaide, my ever lovin' adelaide....." i can see frank sinatra singing it to his best girl now. gz was born in 1945...not sure when the musical originally came out, and if her middle name came from that song or whether it was a family name. but aren't most middle names a point of embarrassment/ridicule, anyway? :wink: (says one with the middle moniker "joy"....riiiiight :roll: )

No doubt comes from that famous song...."We had joy. We had fun. We had pimples on our bum."?

Okay, Dove, let's give it a shot. Anyone game to give up their real, actual middle name?
Mine's "John". {Makes things alot easier when I'm visiting the red light zone.}

My uncle (on my Dad's side) middle name is "Aucterlonie". I figure it must come from the Scots side of the lineage, although the rest of us all have rather average middle names. (Dad told me he used to call him "Hog-the-baloney").
Let's see someone top that middle name.
By the way, his first name is "John". Coincidence? I wonder....

My great grandfather's middle name was Spurlock and I had a great uncle whose middle name was Sheldneck.

As for me I was named after my Aunt and my Grandmother. Joan is a good name, despite it's simplicity. It has good associations for me.

My father has no middle name. I think that's pretty rare.

My Father has no middle name either. I think it is quite rare, years ago, people seemed to give their kids quite a few middle names didn't they? Mind you, neither has my Mum.

My middle name is Jeanne, after my grandmother. My parents thought that the spelling was a little too traditional and added an extra n and another e. I'm fine with it, but I don't think I'd ever use it as a name to go by.

MTF: Love that pic! Especially how your hairdos match. (Is hairdos the actual plural of hairdo?)

As you may recall from the "Guess My Middle Name" contest, one of my silliest contributions (and I wonder to this day how so many people got to particimate) to this forum, my middle name is Bregje. I don't like it much.
