Anyone know whether Frank ever resolved its origin to his definitive satisfaction?

In a 1993 interview for Guitarist magazine he said--

Q: How did you come to own your fire-damaged ex-Jimi Hendrix Strat?

A: "Well, there was this guy named Howard Parker - they called him 'H' - who was Hendrix's roadie, gofer and general assistant. He stayed at our house for a couple of months in the late '60s, and he had this guitar which Hendrix had given to him - I thought it was from the Miami concert. He gave it to me and we had it hanging on the wall as a decoration for years and years, and then I met some guys who were capable of putting guitars back together, so I had it done."

"I've used it on a couple of tracks, although I can't remember which ones off-hand. I haven't played it all that often, because unless you're in the right environment and you're standing in exactly the right relationship to the amplifier, it likes to feed back all the time."

[new posters can't scribble URLs]

But later a dude named Tappy Wright began claiming that he was the one who gave Frank that (only charred? or broken into pieces too?) Sunburst Strat...which was roasted where??

Frank said on several occasions that it was his belief that it had been set afire/broken by Hendrix during the first '68 May Miami Pop Festival (there was a second MPF that December), however the only two documented occasions when Hendrix burnt a guitar were to close his Monterey show and on 31 March '67 at the Finsbury Park Astoria.

So....any insights? Would be mightily appreciated.

^^^ Yeah, I've seen that. Could Dweezil be misremembering some of the details? Or then why did Frank not mention anything regarding this "2nd reconstruction"--as it would've been--in that '93 (or any other that I've seen) interview?

So is the Zappa Hendrix guitar a fake (misrepresented by whichever roadie passed it to Frank), or is it the other one, the one up for sale of late (many current news sources, I'm still too new to post a link)?

Naw I tried that, and just tried it again, it won't let me do it.

But these search terms copied into the Google box will bring up the '93 interview--

"unholy mother" + zappa + "guitarist magazine"

See, if the guitar that roadie gave Frank was from the Finsbury Park Astoria show...then why was it in pieces? Jimi didn't break that one.

Among many other puzzling points re: the assortment of paradoxes involved here.

Frank says that he took the Hendrix Guitar apart for a pick up in the neck.

Another one of my Strats is the one Hendrix burned at the Miami Pop Festival; it was given to me by this guy who used to be his roadie. I had it hanging on the wall in my basement for years until last year when I gave it to Rex and said, "Put this sucker back together," because it was all tore up. The neck was cracked off, the bodywas all fired, and the pickups were blistered and bubbled. That's the one that's got the Barcus-Berry in the neck. A lot of people thought I had Hendrix's guitar from Monterey, but it was from Miami; the one at Monterey was white and this one is sunburst.

cleons! KAPT. cleons 8) Great interview links.-On you-tube Dweezle say's [ dad n I were cleaning out a space under the stairs n I said where did this come from?He told me Hendrix left it, as it was ruined in Miami. So frank kept it n I asked for it ,he said sure n I eventually had it fixed ] So anyone's memory has to be vague! :? D.Z. was young F.Z. was busy. Sure take it son, father to son sounds most plausable. :wink:I don't think F.Z. restored it,but it would make sense if D.Z. used people his dad knew n recommended. So say I !

It's still a guitar made for r. hand  And thats Monterey '67  Now if you are left handed what do you do?Turn it clockwise n string it the same way a right hand would. Especially if you plan on applying fire n friction only once! Still your pix speak to the subject. Who fixed it after Frank? D.Z.? More pix n I'll hope for a more definet explanation. I don't hood  you. Another nice try! Oh yeah! This is fun! More, more encore!

The Zappa Guitar player interview January 1977 when Zappa "That's the one that's got the Barcus-Berry in the neck"Did he mean neck position or In the neck as inside :?
The Record review pic that Slime poster has three all the same pickups,And looks like before 1977 the other two photos look around 1977,With a diffrent Neck so it is possible the guitar got taken apart to have the pick up removed for some reason.
It Sure would answer why them necks,Maybe Dweezil being young what the Hendrix upside down for the cool look.

Talking about upside down a lot will know for those who don't Albert King had all is stings thick down bottom Thin up top

FZ's "memory" is accurate. The guitar was burned onstage in an afternoon performance at the Miami Pop Festival. H gave it to FZ. FZ later had it rebuilt (when he got it it was not in pieces). If you track photos you can see the changes it went through. What DZ says is also true. Rex Bogue worked on the guitar and refused to finish and refused to return it. I had to drive out to his place to retrieve it - and not all the parts were returned. (Frightening experience!!!) What ultimately remained is what DZ found under the stairs.

Now you know.

Then was FZ and DZ there when DZ refound it? Or was it just DZ? After dad u-know,wasn't here, there or anywhere? He will return! :) Love u folks for being here!
