I read that they are planning on releasing a whole library of new transcriptions along the lines of the new Hot Rats book.

Anyone here have the 'Hot Rats' book? I wonder: is it guitar tab only or does it have transcriptions of the horn charts for eg. 'Little Umbrellas' or 'It must be a camel'? I think a book with complete transcriptions would be much more interesting than a transcription of the guitar parts...

I've noticed that a couple of FZ compositions were transcribed in the original (illegal) 'Real Book', used by jazz musicians around the world. My copy has "Peaches", "Blessed Relief" and "Son of Mr. Green Genes", but I don't think any of these songs ever became real jazz standards.. too bad.

Good for reference, but I agree that complete transcriptions would be better.

According to the latest Barfko Swill catalogue that I got with my OZ CD they still have copies of 'Them or Us - the book' for sale. Or you could do what I did and pay silly money for it on eBay - it pops up from time to time.

I've seen Vaylor sit in with the Allman Brothers Band on a couple of occasions. He's really a pretty good guitarist (he's come a long way since gracing the cover of "Brothers and Sisters"). The fact that he aspires to the abilities of Frank Zappa make me appreciate him even more.
