I was 9 at the time. So I was probably bent over, being sodomized by my uncle.

I was about 5 when Frank died. My father is a big Zappa fan (so am I  ;D), so I've practically been listening to his music since I was born. I remember that I got up in the morning and my dad told me what happened. I was sad, but I was just a kid so I didn't think about it very long. <br>He was a great man. I keep wondering what great other songs would he make if he didn't die...

I was 5 years old at the time, and Zappa had no role in my universe at that point.<br><br>The more I hear of Zappa's music, the sadder I get that he died. I just wish I could've met him or even seen one of his concerts. <br><br>And as long as we're fantasizing, I would've loved to have been in one of his bands as a backing vocalist or something. Oh, well.  :'(

I got the news from the major TV newspaper in Brazil. By Them I was just faintly aware that he was a musician...  I know a Zappa living in Brazil and I know there are more of them around...

I heard it on the news and when I got in to work I had the task of telling my boss who is a huge zappa freak, we both sat and listened to watermelon in easter hay about 10 times in a row, both with a blank look on our faces. Later that night I went home and listened to Shut up and play you guitar and cried all night, staring at my guitar wanting to play it but couldn't, I was too broken up.

I was living in Sherman Oaks, CA with my wife and infant son.  I knew that he had been ill for a long time and was steadily getting worse, so when I heard about it was not a surprise.  I think I heard about it on the nightly news - and you know those guys never have anything nice to say.  So I got out my 'Shut Up and Play Your Guitar' tapes and drove all over the Valley with that sucker turned way up.  Adieu, Frank.  We loved you.

I was listening to the Howard Stern show while I was getting ready for work and when he came back from the commercial break, he read a eulogy he wrote for Frank. I was really taken aback for the simple reason that I never heard Howard so serious up to that point...<br><br>...the tone and inflection in his voice, you knew it was straight from the heart.

A friend of mine broke the news to me that frank had died.<br>He was quite sensitive about it, knowing how much i loved Zappa. I spent the whole day going through my collection.<br>I tried to convince myself it wasn't true and that he must be mistaken, then it came on the news. :'(<br>
