Hey jimmie d, I heeded your advice and went to the other thread, even though it's in the Frequently Asked Questions section (which may be perversely appropriate as it no doubt is a frequently asked question, but about life in general not ZFT business and so on). Anyway, the thread is mangled, maybe there's some file corruption in there somewhere. There are plenty of threads that are working properly, so maybe there's something wrong the "Re: The Meaning of Life" thread in particular. My post there disappeared and so has the previously listed latest post. If file corruption is the problem then admin may have to do some deleting, which would be unfortunate.

Should we continue with this thread here or wait and see if the other one rights itself or gets fixed. Questions, questions, questions flooding into the mind of the concerned old fogey today.

The thread linked to by jimmy d above:

http://www.zappa.com/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=faq;action=display;num=1049568856;start=45#45

seems to be accepting new posts now and my missing message has appeared and so has a completely empty one for jimmy d - was that intended? But it's still mangled at the beginning, at the very least it's not showing the originating post by LumpyGravy.

BTW I'm not complaining, I'm just feeding back and checking we're all seeing the same things.

If sqeez is still on the planet and still wants to know, Frank said (in an interview with Den Simms & Rob Samler on 12 January 1991):

“I will say — and this doesn’t put you in the realm of metaphysics — that something animates you while you are alive. There’s an electro-chemical process that animates this bag of shit that everybody has to drag around, OK? So, it is not impossible that at the point where the electro-chemical process that’s motivating the bag of shit ceases to be strong enough to make the bag of shit move around, that energy may be exchanged, and may dissipate and have an existence of it’s own without the bag of shit. I wouldn’t want to extrapolate that into the world of ghosts and goblins...I believe that those energies and processes exist. I just don’t think that they’ve been adequately described or adequately named yet, because people are too willing to make it all into something that supports a religious theory of one flavor or another. If you start defining these things in nuts-and-bolts scientific terms, people reject it because it’s not fun, y’know. It takes some of the romance out of being dead, because of people’s desires to have eternal life and to extend their influence from beyong the grave…all that Houdini-type stuff…but basically, I think when you’re dead, you’re dead. It comes with the territory.â€￾

(Published in October 1991 Society Pages USA magazine (#7), ‘He’s A Human Being. He Has Emotions, Just Like Us (Part 2)’)

I think that's a great description...

That was what I hinted at as well. I know the question. A hint:

Think Bob Dylan! :D

What is the Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything?

Do you doubt it? Just run a search in Google with the following query (copy and paste):

the answer to life, the universe and everything

I just realised that the post I made above, when looked at in relation to the thread subject, just makes me look like a Ralph Wiggum type retard heh.

number 42 i wonder is that something to do with a card trick.try it works every time got to have full 52 pack..put one card a time on table if it is say a 8 for EXP put card after card till it will be 11 you need to had 3 cards...
do that till cards run out or if you got spare cards put them to one side
now for the magic turn the stacks over leave 3 stacks there then count the cards it be the same as the top 3 cards  minus 16

42 comes from Douglas Adams' Hitch-Hiker's Guide books. These mice-people build a machine to tell them the answer to the question of life, the universe, and everything, and the answer is 42, so they have to build another computer to find out the question, which is, "What is six times nine?"

And spotteth twice they the camels before the third hour; and so, the Midianites went forth to Ram Gilead in Kadesh Bilgemath, by Shor Ethra Regalion, to the house of Gash-Bil-Bethuel-Bazda, he who brought the butter dish to Balshazar and the tent peg to the house of Rashomon, and there slew they the goats, yea, and placed they the bits in little pots.

Hmmm The Meaning Of Life eh? I'm always of the opinion that we're here for a reason, here to learn maybe, and then off we go to somewhere else when we die, and then find out? I really do believe we are here for a reason, what that reason is, I dunno but I've had lots of sleepless nights thinking about it when I go to bed. I don't really know, as I don't believe in God or anything and I aint died before! Im an Athiest, (Im spiritual, but as far as Im concerned, praying to a God that doesn't exist is as stupid as buying a Celine Dion album).
