The annual Top 2000 voting is taking place!

At the end of the year, the Dutch public radio has a show based on a list of 2000 pop songs, compiled by the voters. Frank's usually in the list! Last year, Dancing Fool landed somewhere in the 600 region.

Vote for Frank! Log on here:
http://top2000.radio2.nl/stemmen/page/top2000_voorpagina_normaal, click on Verder (black button on the right) to proceed.
Choose up to 10 songs from the list at the left, (click them, then click green button Toevoegen between the two lists). Frank will be under F.
When you're done, click Verder.

Then, if you desire, pick another song. Choose it yourself. I'm trying to get Peaches en Regalia in the chart, so if you want to help, thank you.
When you're done, click Verder.

You're then requested to pick one of the songs you choose, and write to the world why you love that song. Your comment will be placed on the web site eventually, and if they like it enough, it will be read on the radio during the emission.
When you're done, click Verder.

Then the usual data: name, e-mail, home address, postal code, city.
Click Verder to proceed.

Thanks for casting your vote!

Same call!
http://stemmen.top2000.nl/

All artists are sorted by first name. You're allowed to pick 15 songs they list there, and 5 songs that aren't in there.

Tell me that in 50 years when they're erecting the 1000th statue of Hank Westbrook. Or whatever his name is.

You can pick 15 songs from a pre-designed list with thousands of songs on it, and 5 "free" songs. It doesn't happen a lot that a song that's not on the list can get on the list that way, but last year it happened with Slayer. The list that you can choose from has only Dancin' Fool to choose from. This is part advantage - ABBA gets relatively low because they have more than 20 songs in the list and they all sound alike so they are in direct competition with each other - but let's face it, as funny as it is, Dancin' Fool is hardly FZ's masterpiece.

What I voted for:
Frank Zappa - Dancing Fool
Deep Purple - Child In Time
Aretha Franklin - Think
Billie Holiday - Strange Fruit
Nina Simone - Ain’t Got No/I Got Life
Jeff Wayne - Eve Of THe War
Otis Redding - The Dock Of The Bay
Jackie Wilson - Reet Petite
Dave Brubeck - Take Five
Glenn Miller - In The Mood
Mark & Clark Band - Worn Down Piano
Ben E. King - Stand By Me
Michel Fugain - Une Belle Histoire
Ike & Tina Turner - River Deep Mountain High
Slayer - Angel Of Death

Own songs: Tim Curry - Sloe Gin and Dir en grey - Hageshisa To, Kono Mune No Naka De Karamitsuita Shakunetsu No Yami

So I voted for:

Frank Zappa - Dancin' Fool
Jimi Hendrix - The Wind Cries Mary
Jimi Hendrix - Little Wing
Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze
King Crimson - Starless
Yes - Close To The Edge
The Beatles - Something
The Rolling Stones - You Can't Always Get What You Want
Pink Floyd - Echoes
Pink Floyd - The Great Gig In The Sky
Deep Purple - Black Night
Talking Heads - Once In A Lifetime
Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

And my 5 special songs (able to play on the radio):

My Guitar Wants To Kill Your Mamma
Peaches En Regalia
Mr. Green Genes
Sharleena
Bellerin' Plain

Thanks for voting Waka!

There's plenty of alternatives - one I voted for today was the Snob 2000: after voting for all Zappa songs in the list there was not enough room for all the Primus in the list. That was a dilemma!

Just room for Bellerin' Plain. It was that or Pachuco. 8)
