ok, I'll go first.
Got up and went to work per usual and got there on time today <hurray!>
saw that everyone else for a normal Monday was there, but the new manager had written me off my normal schedule and put me on weekends, which means, I don't have to go back til Saturday!!!!!!!!!!! I thanked him for a week off work, ordered me a full breakfast at half price and a free coffee. Said hi to everybody, got me a free loaf of bread and bought a lb of coffee at half price, ate, had a little hot coffee. Looked out the window at the light reflected off the building across the street. Put my dishes up and went to the corner store to get creamer for coffee at home.
Saw "guitar dave" another local I've known for years. He just got out of jail, the day after xmas and has been squatting where he can -- it just got cold here again, so he's gotta figure something out. The guy is nearly fifty and a great guy, once you know him. he just gets all bottled up after awhile and uses the bottle to uncork himself, get a little looser, for a few months until, like this last time, he gets fined $41 for retching and pissing in public, in the alley: 'disorderly conduct' they called it. He didn't pay the fine and got sentenced 120 days as a ward of the county for failing to show up at the hearing. He's getting tired of it. He said for the first time he feels like he's losing his courage, his initiative.
This is a lot for someone who always saw himself as a wolf in street clothes. So I tell him he's welcome to come over to the house and mellow out, he opts for the public library. I walk home in the sunlight, there's still frost on the ground.
I come home and put a pot of coffee on and turn the computer on. The itunes springs up, the mouse gets bumped and before I realize what's happened, the zappa live show Feb 15th, 1978 opens up and 'Wild Love' from the middle of the setlist somewhere starts playing. It wasn't really a conscious deal, I just bumped it and it just started playing.
So I'm looking at my mail, thinking I got three -- , no! FOUR days off and what am I gonna do with THAT!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
and 'Yo Mama' comes on. It's a different version , looser, more majestic, not so baroque and so, unique as it is, I think about my Buddy Dave.
now I get back to work here at home . . .
Thank YOU Tommy Mars and Peter Wolf!!!

I picked up my MOFO from the Post Office, and my new glasses, then set off home to clean the house and prepare snakeys things for school tomorrow (she doesnt wanna go back - and I don't freakin blame her). 8) I just made a madras curry for tea, and Im about to sit down and watch "Curb Your Enthusiasm" DVD that I got myself as a Christmas present.

So far an uneventful day but anticipating a hastle on my drive home from work. It just so happens to be the day that here in Grand Rapids many of the roads will will be shut down and lined with secret service for former president Gerald Fords funeral procession which is scheduled to start when I get out. I expect my commute will take longer than usual because I'll take an alternate route home so I can avoid the hassle. All this is going on mere blocks from where I live.

that is so strange, your details of description are just the kind of things that etch into my memory. I will always remember that now. not good or bad, but I can perfectly visualize what that would look like. Is it sunny or overcast there?

Currently sunny. Very unseasonal here for the first week of January.

She means she made a madras curry for her dinner, Punky.

Tea being 'evening meal' here in the UK, not just a cuppa.

Woke up, fell outta bed, dragged a comb across my head.

-cut down some trees
-cut off some whiskers
-baked a small pecan pie
-ate a dinner of meatloaf, potatos, and green beans
-planned on watching a 1970s Charles Bronson western co-starring George Kennedy
-watched a bit more of the funeral processions for Gerald Ford
-watched a bit of "Deal or No Deal"
-attempted to make a dental appointment, but will have to try try again
-did a bit of organizing around the house
-concidered posting a new pic for Perdiem's Moustache Thread. Still have to
-Thought of the books I'd like to read this year 8)

I got two deep cuts on my second and third knuckles, barely missing the tendons. Never carelessly pick up one of those really big, fancy paper cutters the wrong way.

Then I had Chinese food!

Im having a shit day so far. First thing this morning, attempting to do a 3 point turn in the road after dropping my daughter off at school (running late so had to use the car), a woman passing on the pavement glared at me, gave me the filthiest look known to man, and sheilded her kids because the car was pointed in her direction. So I opened the door and said "its ok, Im not going to mount the pavement and squash your kids" to which she replied "its still not very nice is it!". Someone please tell me what the fuck I was doing wrong??!! :? OK, I can understand anyone wanting to protect their kids, but what in the fuck was I suposed to be guilty of? Maybe it's just me and Im too sensitive, but every day I hate the general public more and more. Makes me more reluctant to enter into any public domain as a choice of workplace. I wanna hide away from everyone and do my own thing. People are just fucking weird.

Shit happens... If you want to feel better, you can come over and have some home-baked apple pie...

Did my newspaper round this morning, one of my subscribers had his keys left in the front door. Played some Phantasmagoria and went shopping, didn't find any of the things on my list.

Say I used a mitten... it was a highly clumsy accident when I noticed my hand was not firmly placed under the pie shape and relocated it, and underestimating the length of the mitten in doing so.

Aspy: my hand's OK, thanks!
