I'm gonna go with this amalgamation for now but will probably change my mind in the next 5 mins. Here it goes then, in no particular order.

FZ -Lead Guitar
Mike Keneally - Stunt Guitar
Captain Beefheart - Vocals
Mike Patton - Vocals
Jack Black - Vocals
Erik Friedlander - Cello
Tom Herbert - Double Bass
Seb Rochford - Drums
Ruth Underwood - Percussion
Iku Mori - Electronic Pyrotechnics
George Duke - Piano & Keyboards
Kimmo Pohjonen - Accordion
John Zorn - Alto Sax
Dave Douglas - Trumpet

"Great Googly Moogly", now that's what I call a Juicey Line-up. I see the music falling somewhere between "Filthy Habits" & "It Must Be A Camel" with the album as a whole sharing the same absurd continuity of "Uncle Meat" Give me a second here to wipe the saliva from my grahzny rot.

OK Folks! Now it's your turn. I am eager to viddy what musicians you would delight in putting eyebrows on.

Dr Poobah

My friend and I once played a variation of the game "HORSE", where 2 or more people take jump shots (basketball) and if they make the shot, the others have to make the same shot or get an "H" (and so on, "O", "R", etc until you spell the word "Horse"), and the first player to spell "Horse" loses.

The variation was this: "Build a Band". In this version, as you're taking the jump shot, another player shouts out the name of a musician with the ball in midair. If he makes the shot, then that musician is in his band. So you can end up with really funny band lineups like this one:

Frank Zappa - lead guitar
Steve Perry - lead vocals
John Renbourn - rhythm guitar
Charles Mingus - bass guitar
Keith Emerson - keyboards
Bun E. Carlos - drums

That is one hell of a line-up you got there Disco Boy. My face can hardly contain the massive grin spreading exponetially across it with the thought of Barbara Streisand on Harmonica. I imagine that Tipper is a beast on the drums. Hammering those skins and delighting the audience with her erudite republican chops.

If I maybe so bold as to add to your delicious line-up. I would go for the following:

Arnold Schwarzenegger - Slap Bass
Marilyn Manson - Didgeridoo
George W Bush - Weapons of Mass Destruction

Smoking!

Don't know about a band, but here's to the organization.

President -- CEO: Frank Zappa
Press Officer: Trendmonger
Director, Public Relations: Zombie1210
Tour Manager: Dweezil Zappa
Treasurer: Gail Zappa

Hmmm, I forgot to add the vaultmeister. That's up for debate...

Who's that guy who claims that he can channel Frank? Or is it a woo-man? Something like that anyway...

The best band FZ never created:
Frank Zappa-Lead guitar,vocals
Buckethead-Stunt/Rhythm Guitar
Les Claypool-Bass,Vocals
Victor Wooten-Bass
Page McConnell-Keyboards,Vocals
Ruth Underwood-Percussion
Vinnie Colaiuta-Drums
Jack Black-Lead/Background Vocals, Acoustic Guitar

OMG, my face is melting just thinking of it. 8) See you put Vinnie out there with double bass sound similar to the late 70s with Barrow/O'Hearn, except now it's Claypool/Wooten, plus you get Claypool's unique vocal stylings as well, perfect for alot of FZ stuff. Page can play any keyboard superbly, they don't call him Chairman Of The Boards for nothing! Imagine BucketHead's wacky brand of musicianship/Showmanship in FZ's band? Ruth back on percussion:sexy little momma still has it. 8) And Finally, Jack Black! Imagine JB on a song like Keep It Greasy or Enema Bandit!!

You and Disco Boy's band lineups remind me of this little tidbit:

"The Intro and the Outro" by the Bonzo Dog Band

Hi there, nice to be with you, glad you could stick around.
Like to introduce `Legs' Larry Smith, drums
And Sam Spoons, rhythm pole
And Vernon Dudley Bohay-Nowell, bass guitar
And Neil Innes, piano.
Come in Rodney Slater on the saxophone
With Roger Ruskin Spear on tenor sax.
I, Vivian Stanshall, trumpet.
Say hello to big John Wayne, xylophone
And Robert Morley, guitar.
Billy Butlin, spoons.
And looking very relaxed, Adolf Hitler on vibes.
Nice!
Princess Anne on sousaphone.
Mmm.
Introducing Liberace, clarinet
With Garner "Ted" Armstrong on vocals.
[Jazzy scat singing]
Lord Snooty and his pals, tap dancing.
In the groove with Harold Wilson, violin
And Franklin McCormack on harmonica.
Over there, Eric Clapton, ukulele.
Hi Eric!
On my left Sir Kenneth Clark, bass sax.
A great honour, sir.
And specially flown in for us, the session's gorilla on vox humana.
Nice to see Incredible Shrinking Man on euphonium.
Drop out with Peter Scott on duck call.
Hearing from you later, Casanova on horn.
Yeah! Digging General de Gaulle on accordion.
Rather wild, General!
Thank you, sir.
Roy Rogers on Trigger.
Tune in Wild Man of Borneo on bongos.
Count Basie Orchestra on triangle.
[CBO:] (Ting!)
Thank you.
Great to hear the Rawlinsons on trombone.
Back from his recent operation, Dan Druff, harp.
And representing the flower people, Quasimodo on bells.
[Q:] Hooray!
Wonderful to hear Brainiac on banjo.
We welcome Val Doonican as himself.
[V:] Hullo there!
Very appealing, Max Jaffa.
Mmm, that's nice, Max!
What a team, Zebra Kid and Horace Batchelor on percussion.
A great favourite and a wonderf-

Nice cast. If you'd also throw in Don Cherry (cornet) and Archie Shepp (tenor sax) you'd get the band with several of the jazz cats who have sat in with FZ.

Jim Loughlin! Good ol' Drummer #2! Wow, I forgot about him! He's fantastic.

I'm going to try a serious one now:

Fred Zappa - Guitar, Vocals
Burton Cummings - Lead Vocals, Piano
Holger Czukay - bass, engineering
George Hurley - drums
Buzz Osbourne - 2nd Guitar

I think that's part of the joke. He says he's going to do it seriously and then messes up his name, it's has to be a joke, surely?

Yep, just a joke. 8)

Sometimes in conversation I replace his first name with another one just for fun.
