France stinks. The people stink. The food stinks. Their politics stink.

It's all stinky.

Even as a joke this would be hard to stomach. The majority of my relatives live in France and I've been there, it's not that bad as far as western countries go. And like anywhere else it has areas you'd rather not visit. Anyone talking about their own country tends to leave out the nasty parts.

If I had to choose to live in either France or the USA I would choose France.

FZ's feelings about France were coloured by his experience at the Amougies Festival.

Why are you being like that? Why wouldn't I get a little miffed when you're slagging off a country which is a part of my heritage?

I suppose I already know that there are a lot of bigots out there so I guess I shouldn't be surprised when I'm confronted by one.

The people of France are largely pro-American. They like us. I like their women and food. And Varese was a Frenchman, too. You should go pick on the Greeks, who are hostile to 'merican's. Fuck them.

I went Greek in college, and I admit, we were pretty stinky.

I've been to France once, in 1991. Most visitors would say it is a very different country, and that was even more the case in the 1970's. Most of the French people still refuse to learn English, and seem to care little about what the world is like outside of France. In Paris, be prepared to be thrown out of the taxi if you say a single English word (that happened to me and my friends several times, no kidding). I felt like an alien. The French, as I see it, have a tendency to lock themselves in, they have a manner and a culture that is impossible to penetrate for outsiders. I have every reason to believe that touring in France in the 1970's could really make anyone crazy.

It wasn't hard at all. I just made an ass of myself.

Man, Doug, we should form a volleyball team. We are ON FIRE!

Nice interview. Thx.

Though I've been for several times in France I never used one of the facilities with a hole in the ground. I hope they filled them up in the meantime. :P

I have lived here for 15 years now. I love France. I don't think i could go back to Canada to live. However, there is one way to make this country even better....Move all the French to Canada and bring the Canadians to France. That way, the 70 million French would have more elbow room and would relax more (largest consumer worldwide of anti-depressants) and the Canadians could dive into wine making with a vengence....not to mention cheese.

one of my fave moments was trying to find a hotel the first night & i was being strug along briefly ,then he laughed & explained he "ad worked in Oz" for a couple of years haha.

The goverment however & their destruction of the pacific by nuclear testing is inexcusable !
