-sure this is reflective of some other thread somewhere here-since being on petty dial-up-haven't the energy to peruse- recently have been checking out Larry David's 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' series-then there's the old Twilight Zone collection...fitting,because I exist in a twilight zone of my own devise.

This Is Spinal Tap :)

The thing is, I watch this with friends COUGH, and it flops. The humor's too subtle :P

I do recall watching 'Spinal Tap' years ago in the theatre-it was comic then...yet if the particular humour thereof is currently topical/&/or/applicable remains to be seen..I mean the collective output of the stance of 'Rutles'- 'Waiting For Guffman' 'A Mighty Wind ' speaks of anything we need today...remains to be seen-don't get me wrong here-Harry Shearer & company are funny-but-to me,anyway, only so far as the respective topic covered.

Its so funny isnt it Dovey? My favourite series has to be the one where he's living in the "static home" while his new house is being built. Hilarious. I think it's "Im Alan Partridge". 8)

Great movie. Mike Nelson has a very funny commentary for it up at RiffTrax. Check it out. 8)

Actually, Planet Terror was part one of Grindhouse. I caught it in theaters right before it was gone. I really am disappointed in the Weinsteins for releasing the double feature on Easter Weekend. If it had come out a better date, it would have made more money. Now fans are claiming that the studio is splitting up the films on DVD because the double feature didn't do well, even though Tarantino and Rodriguez had said that was the plan all along. :(

EDIT:

Added the link for the Fifth Element RiffTrax. 8)

ZPZ, purchased yesterday for my son's upcoming 16th birthday. To commemorate the concert we saw together last November. In the car going home, his buddies couldn't understand why he thought Scheila Gonzales was so great. He had to explain circular breathing to them. Like most kids, they thought music came from computers. Who knew?

ah, dead men don't wear plaid...hilarious!

recently purchased 2001: a space odyssey--lots o' extras, can't wait to devour.....

deathproof and planet terror

2nd season of snl...watching the show that paul simon hosted, and he's a-singin' with george harrison right now! i already had taped frank's musical guest show from this season, but hey, to see it and all the other shows (steve martin hosts twice here) on dvd is quite nice. you can see why they cut certain sketches....some are really sub-par. inside the dvd package is a booklet with a picture of frank and lorne in mr. michael's office. trouble is, it's taken from when frank hosted. why not a pic of him as a killer xmas tree? heh, heh. many fun memories.

tomorrow, getting disc 3 of season 1 of king of the hill in the mail. woo-loo-loo, dad!

One film I recently saw was Pan's Labrynth, pictured below. Highly recommended to most folks, except those with a dislike of... Well, it's not excessive violence, nothing on these torture guro movies that are coming out, but you know, some people may still find it shocking, one particularly brutal scene springs to mind.
