That instrumental piece he played at Woodstock after the Star Spangled Banner. I think it's called "Villanova Junction" on the album, awesome guitar playing. I always show thevideo footage from that piece to people who claim his guitar playing is overrated, it shuts them up quite easily...

Too many to choose. Probably something off First Rays of the New Rising Sun.

Breathing life into an old thread? Sure, I'll play along...

Say what you will about those well known stadium tunes with the amp cranked to 11, the acres of feedback, the boogie & bluesy, but if I had to pick one ((and only one)) JH tune, it would be one that was so well crafted and with multiple musical elements that showcases not only the man's gift of words, but of course his gentle/dramatic guitar playing which somehow always seems to get overlooked.is that a run-on sentence, or what?

I'm compelled to pick...
:) :) Little Wing :) :)

Doriella Du Fontaine with Jimi on guitar and bass, Buddy Miles on drum and organ and Lightnin' Rod on vocals (also wrote the song). Any of you folks know Lightnin' Rod ?
Hush Now, an instrumental and Love, Love on Early Classics 1965-66-67?
Three Little Bears and Izabella on War Heroes
Pali Gap on Rainbow Bridge

Little wing with out a doubt for me "well she's walking through the clouds with her circus mind" that line always reminds me of Frank, the progression on the tune is just so yummy and ya can't do it with out someone hitten something. A sides from that, disk 3 from the 4 disk purple velvet is the one to crank.

Oh and there is not to many to chose from. Jimi was with us for such a short period of time, I mean fuck what was it five years. Sometimes it seems that some peoples only reason for living is to show the rest of us some possibilities.

Yes, one of my favorites also, mostly because I can play it. That and Purple Haze.

Who Knows is my all time favorite.

If you like Hendrix and have not heard the album Nine to the Universe, do yourself a favor and go and get it. [/b]
