Is there any chance of the Zappa Family trust rereleasing any of Frank's music on vinyl. I recently bought a few Captain Beefheart vinyls and would like some Zappa to go with it.

That would be awesome to see. Tough to say if they'll ever do it though.

My Friend picked up a Baby Snakes LP with the Frank vinyl art on it.
Says he'll never play it.

I find tons of old vinyl at my local record store called Everybody's Records I've found Over-nite Sensation, Studio Tan, Cruising With Ruben and The Jets and 200 Motels. They still havent gotten in Hot Rats sadly.

Well I live in Maine, and there seems to be a shortage of stores that actually sell old records. But there is one a few miles away, but no Zappa right now.

But I'll be ready when it comes in.

Well, I'd love to pick up new Zappa LP's but I'm sure they would be WAY overpriced. Sundazed has issued some great stuff at under $15 (Byrds, Otis, Love, Dylan) but I'm sure Gail would want a higher return. I just bought the new Winwood and Costello on LP and they sound great. Plus they come with a code to download the entire album as an MP3 file. FYI Circuit City online is a great place to buy new vinyl. FREE SHIPPING!

Maybe the days of vinyl will come back
even in the mid eighty's record shops in town wanted silly money up to 200 quid (sorry my keyboard as gone American so i can't do a pound sign)
and not much fun if you have had to many ciders and wreck it before you have the chance to listen to side two.

Makes sense, it explains why despite Frank's small following he managed to stay rich.

I love Zappa on vinyl! One of my favorite things is finding a Zappa album on vinyl that I've never heard before. And if there's one I've learned from Zappa's albums it's that you never judge a book by it's cover. I remember when I first saw Chunga's Revenge for $5.99 my expectations where low, but I bought it and when I listened to it I found that it was awesome! The same thing happened with Zoot Allures. It had Frank smuggling a potato in his pants and the band looked soo young, I sarcastically thought "This should be interesting" and now it's one of my favorites. Then I amassed a nice collection of 25-30 Zappa albums and I finally ran across Uncle Meat for like 30 bucks and I didn't even flinch, I had heard about it but never listened to it and I was really excited to finally hear it and when I did, I was a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, there are a couple of gems (especially King Kong!) but for the most part it's just a bunch of talking and nonsense. Eitherway I still love the hunt because I still haven't heard Grand Wazoo, Sleep Dirt or Weasels Ripped My Flesh and now days they are becoming harder and harder to find. So every time I visit a different city I look up a record store and head straight for the Z's!

There's an increasing movement back to vinyl and I would love to see the ZFT start pressing some real records again. The lastest Sound and Vision has two articles on vinyl's comeback, and the new Rolling Stone also has a page dedicated to vinyl as well.

ZFT... please consider this. Until then, I'll continue my hunt on eBay.

I have a mountain of Zappa on vinyl.
Most are Discreet label releases.

I have thought about parting with them as I don't have a turntable.
One album I have is 'Transparency'.... the one he mentions in his book,
which is a compilation of his early albums with record company
edits from the original recordings.

I am not sure I could part with my original 'Cruisin' with Ruben...'
record, nor the 'Shut Up....' boxed set. I have a first edition
'Shut Up....' Vai transcribed book too.

I also have a 1982 original 'Ship Arriving...' t-shirt and scarf...
and an 80's 'Them Or Us' sleeveless shirt not forgetting
a huge original poster promoting the 'Broadway, Hardway...'
UK tour.

I also have one of Zappa's Gibson SG's.....not really,
I wish I did though.
