Europe's first ice machine in Friedrichspark (1959).

From wiki:

Eisstadion am Friedrichspark is an indoor sporting arena located in Mannheim, Germany. The capacity of the arena is 8,200. It was the home arena of Adler Mannheim ice hockey team prior to the SAP Arena opening in 2005.

It was build in 1938 and had a long history of hockey games. The greatest event was the match against Duesseldorfer EG in the 1990s when the DEG was still the big player in German hockey. The stadium was then filled with over 10,500 people.

Olympia am Wasserturm, Essen
1968-09-28 a.m.

This is an unlisted show.

There were some reports in several local medias recently because of the 40th jubilee of the Essener Songtage. The show at the Grugahalle in Essen from 09-28 is well known. But I didn't know that the Mothers played the same date a few hours ago in the night/morning as well.

The one hour event took place at a former cinema named Olympia am Wasserturm. Don't know whether the building still exists. But the Wasserturm (water tower) is still there.

Image

Source 1 (a report from a guy who attended the show):

Source 2 (a report from a Songtage's account manager) :

Most of the big teenage acts took part at the Grugahalle the same evening. Have posted it already.

Hey, Phydeaux_3, the image procedure in this forum is limited it doesn't parse some urls properly. In this case it's the question mark it can't handle. But, this picture doesn't seem to need the variable, so if you delete everything after jpg it works.

I suppose I've posted this before the last forum crash already.

The hall was renamed later, because there was an open controversy whether Carl Diem was a Nazi.

Diem was the chief organizer of the 1936 Olympic Summer Games in Berlin and created the tradition of the Olympic torch relay.

The hall's name is S'Oliver Arena now:
