Because if we had to get rid of the good posts (mine included) in order to get rid of all the old trolling and spam that went along with it, we'd see a significant decrease in members bitching at each other for no reason. We wouldn't have people bumping harassment threads and then assing around in good threads.

I don't understand why the archive solution isn't being discussed further. The ability to access all the old threads but read only. That way all active threads would be started with the new software and the threads that people don't want to lose can still be accessed. Hey Mikey, could you at least consider the possibility of locking all the old threads and having them in a separate section of the new forum. The current forum has three sections: Announcements, Frank Zappa and General so have four in the new one, with the fourth one being an Archive.

That would be possible, but I'd like to add more to my Duck Duck Goose thread (although nobody saw it last time, grr) and I'm pretty sure there's no reason to break off any pleasant discussion on, say, "Have You Seen Any Good Movies Lately?", or Unica's scrapbook in the Wish List. Maybe we should only lock the pre-April 4 2006 threads where the last page is empty.

I will vote to retain all the info gathered since last wiped. However what happened to all the material prior to this event? does it reside somewhere, and is there anything valuable within? I think there is tonnes of valuable info on the current forum, especially the photographs. I would hate to Unica's work undone.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if you obliterated the old forum and started new. It's loaded so full of crap. Gotta be AT LEAST 90% crap at this point. I'd love to see a clean sweep. Fuck nostalgia.

I started out thinking the new forum should start from scratch, but now that old threads are showing up without the blank pages problem, I don't mind. Nobody has to float up crap threads if they don't want to and anybody who would do that is just as capable of starting a new crap thread anyway. This new forum has turned out well and now that I've switched ignore on a certain person's posts I'm quite happy with the way it's turned out.

May I suggest the deletion of something?

This forum has (on Nov 22, 17:15 UCT+1) 15,823 members who NEVER POSTED ANYTHING.

One of them is JerryN, admin.

Of the remainder, roughly 7000 joined at least one year ago.

That leaves roughly 8000 accounts created in the past year. Around 30 are created every day.

As an admin I recognize the shape of the names. I see them all too often: they're spammers, and they usually post a website you don't want to log on to. When a careless mod of my site did so, his Apple crashed badly and was filled with viruses.

May I suggest you chuck out these lowlifes?
