Not all disco music is awful. The whole scene probably would have been a bit irritating to live through, though.

I was only in grade school when disco was big, but even for youngsters, disco was very much in the spotlight. I remember our annual elementary school fair had a "Saturday Night Fever" theme, and songs from that soundtrack still remind me of that event. "Grease" was big then too.

I quite like some Disco. We can't be forgetting the wonderful Nile Rodgers and Chic now, can we?! Sister Sledge were cool as well, probably becuase of the Nile Rodgers connection. 8)

Very much pre-disco (early 70s), but I agree it's a great song. (probably why you said "disco-y" instead of "disco")..

Ever heard the album Black Man's Burdon? Holy Moly!

Syd Barrett - even though a drug-riddled schizophrenic, couldn't sing in tune, sometimes sounded totally bored with his own songs, couldn't keep time, used the phrase "brandish a one with a feathery tong" and was a hippy, he was still some kind of a genius.

"I Go To Rio" by Peter Allen...here, have the muppets version of it.
the original
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Kgq1g-2cQ54

Here, have the muppets version of it as well.

Also..
"Escape(The Pina Colada Song)" by Rupert Holmes.
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=T3onUJYdyzA

I don't care any more actually...I'm too old to be having "guilty" pleasures. I'm not averse to blasting either of the above in the car with the windows down. I'm out and I'm proud! :D

I think Peter Allen sings that "Everything Old Is New Again" song from All That Jazz. I really like that one too.

Go ahead and frown, but when I stop to reflect on it, The Powerstation was a cool band with a cool sound. What a cool version of "Get It On(Bang A Gong)" they did.

I don't often feel guilty about pleasure, but sometimes I like erotic encounters with strangers. Not only do I get a little guilt afterwards, but the lack of protection often brings on paranoia. But still I go on.

We all seem to like music that might not appeal to members of the Zappa fan community. Why should anyone feel guilty abou it? Who gives a fuck?

That's not a guilty pleasure. That's an incredibly difficult task. They should give out Olympic medals to people who anger people who are so difficult to offend.

Raw Turtle Cookie dough. nuts, caramel pieces, hard chocolate chips in creamy smooth batter with gritty sugar all through it like delicious sand. :)
