I think it does matter because the idea of Forum Areas is significant.
Not every user is going to be interested in viewing active topics.
Sure it's nice to have that option there if you want to use it
but topic areas are important
for organization, cohesiveness and focus.
Some people come here to read and or get into dialog on specific topics as
has already been long laid out by the areas.
POLLS are weighing down the Album area.
A new Zappa Album POLL area could clear that up.

If Active topic was the priority of organization there would be no need for topic areas
where the forum would be one flat collection of topics and threads.
Databases have long been far more efficient, for decades, with the collection and sorting of data.

I want to point out that I did not bring this up for some loud debate or argument
of POLLs but more so to request that segregation of POLLS
would provide good housekeeping for the Zappa Album area.

Personally, I think this is a good idea. I enjoy the poll threads: it's nice to see the preferences of other people. However, the threads do tend to congregate en masse at the top at times. A separate area for them would indeed tidy things up a bit, and would also function as a 'no go area' for those who dislike them...

Al I am saying is that threads you don't like, you should avoid. If Mikey moved all the polls to one area, that would be fine.
or, per FZ "Are You Hung Up?"

Does the new Forum have the ability for an admin to move topics to new areas?

What I have avoided is forcing my opinions on POLLS and how they do or do not fit into FZs
artistic goals. I am in a great mood today. That sound sample and this new forum
is a breath of fresh air. I am trying to politely tread the waters.I am sure to exit soon for
some forum members will be abrasive and make something bad of good intent.
I really have no use for abusive behavior directed towards me in my life.

Fans will always do what they want with the art and talk about it to their liking or disliking.
The compartmentalization of art in POLL form is just very popular these days.
Once again I just think it would be good for housekeeping
for POLLS to have their own area.

In no way am I suggesting eliminating POLLS.
They seem more popular than bobby socks

I've asked for that years ago! (frowns) (stamps on ground)

It's a very temporary problem. That's why I think it might be a waste of time. Polls only come up en masse if somebody decides to reply to all of them, and that doesn't happen very often. And normally it's gone in a day or two. It's like back in the day when we had 4 picture association games running, combined with several other association topics, so I made an association forum vote.

They're pretty much gone now.

i thought the forum adm. could move things around.

I do believe that the new forum structure will be much more useful, I already like it better and it is faster on my machine.

I really like the "dicing" feature, which allows you to put, say, a carrot in, and SQUIBBIDY FLABBIDY DOO out it comes all nice and chopped like. I love the internet.

All this would do is make them easier to find and go a long way to avoid repetition, both of which are pretty useful features. When poll threads are active, no matter where they are located, they will still flood the recent posts list every time several of them have new replies. Anyway, I agree with Bonny, how often does it happen that they flood the recent posts list, it's not that big a deal really.

I prefer it's ability to remove mold and mildew stains from my shower.
Timmy, he likes it for its

Seriously, I like that you can click on the PM button on someones reply while reading a thread
and that particular quote will be included in your PM to them. No more copy and past the quote.
And that lasting shine! Why, I can see myself!

You have no one on your ignore list. You are a delusional idiot.

still can't see your post, isaac.

and, another thing; don't bother sending me any private messages.

on this new, updated forum, you can set up 'rules' for your messages.

and I have one such 'rule': any messages from you, isaac, will be deleted immediately.

I won't even see them!

so, bye, bye, asshole!

And people wonder why I'm pissed that they banned Jimmie D, but did nothing about people who have nothing better to do than to respond to every single post I make just to say that they're "ignoring" me.

(BTW, I've sent LG exactly two PMs since the new forum was implemented. One of them was an attempt to make amends in order to show Jimmie some support, but being that LG has absolutely no respect for real forum members, he instead continued to behave like a dickhead on the forum.)
