Thanks! Awful site. For starters, Putin does speak German. It's "De boog kan niet altijd gespannen staan". "Oorkussen" does not refer to kissing the devil's ear, but to the devil's pillow. It's not "Zalig zijn de dommen", but rather "Zalig zijn de armen van geest" (those who are poor of spirit, something like that).
I still like the one about, "My piss won't get lukewarm!" (But in Dutch! The metaphor implies that your "boiling piss" won't lose its heat, as in, "I'm piss-boiling mad!")

k.d. lang - Some people go for Morrissey, but I prefer her gender-neutral croon anyday, especially this album.

I agree. But she's got a pretty high cheese factor (again, also something I think is wonderful), so I tend to file her under the guilty pleasure category. I suppose I should have been bolder and admitted to my admiration for the Spice Girls, many years ago.

Best Game Ever. We could never finish Level 8 though, with the elusive lingering guard. I only beat him once.

No, it's... I had this sword-fighting tactic that really worked well. I waited until the other guy striked and hit shift at an exact frame, and that always worked. Even for that fat guard from level 6. But the guard from Level 8 won't attack. He'll only defend and you can bust all your time by standing in front of him. So my tactic didn't work there, and I never found one that did work.

Another real guilty pleasure: FMV games. I just made a walkthrough of Frankenstein: Through The Eyes Of The Monster, which is a god-awful game. And I'm writing a little playthrough (and considering doing a video playthrough) of Voyeur. It's... well... it's a genre that could never really make it. It's very expensive, games can cost about as much as a low-budget movie. But to cover all the possible options they need to shoot about 4 movies worth of material - and make a game out of it as well. So, it's low-budget actors, one-take-scenes, cringing acting and overly easy puzzles... but hilarious! Such as The 11th Hour, which is about a house that rapes women.

One day I saw a YT video of somebody's scariest games, and on #2 he put a Japanese horror game with the word "butterfly" in the title.
Could any game be that scary? Went to check it out: long story short, yes. I'd never play it myself but I'm totally hooked on watching blind playthroughs of Fatal Frame II: The Crimson Butterfly, of people who, just as they start to get confident, get a real bad scare, and ten minutes later you can hear they put it away in a dark closet and hope nobody will ask them to continue.

FF2 has, besides a compelling yet totally sick story, a unique premise: to "kill" the ghosts, you need to take pictures of them with your old-fashioned camera: meaning you have to wait until the exact right time, while looking at creepy ghosts about to attack you.
Best bits:
-Sae in the great hall Voted scariest cutscene of the game. Evokes a ghost that is unbeatable and one-hit-kill, that usually takes some time to figure out.
-"The mourners sew their eyes shut" usually evokes a cute reaction
-Confined room fight with the Limbo people
-Falling Woman! When you know this game, you're just waiting for players to go down the stairs. Always good. Heh heh heh heh...
-The ending is beyond disturbing.

BBP: Is the YT vid by a guy called PewDiePie? I believe that's his name, anyway, I like watching his stuff because he gets so scared and screams like a little girl at even the most benign things. He's quite silly, so I can stay with him, even though I'm a scaredy-cat of sorts.

They're by Toegoff, but there are many FF2 walkthroughs.
The Pewdiepie one is here:

Unfortunately he does leave out some fun bits, such as the first jumpscare. And he never even reached the halfway point.

Inserting reality into other people's worlds that don't want it there, since they prefer to live in an alternate reality...

Bought a second-hand CD single of one of my guilty pleasures. It's been Loudness Warred to death: once I was lucky enough to hear a live version and experience the song's full power. Kinda sad.

Another guilty pleasure of mine? One of the best weapon against men is embarrassing nicknames, so I collect them.

Reality meets romance, with a little twist, in the surprising dating show I WANNA MARRY “HARRY.” Summer love is in the air, as an average English “bloke” is given the royal treatment and an upper crust makeover before meeting 12 single American women searching for Prince Charming. Will he be able to convince them he's regal? And if he does, will they fall for the crown, or fall in love with the real him? Join “Harry” as he courts each of the ladies, taking them on romantic dates worthy of a princess and trying to make some version of their fairytales come true.
