Ok but what wrong with this one, should be ready or what? or it is too avant-garde for 2009 still

The fact that the last 15 years went by without 'Calculus' spinning in my CD drive is making my heart sore.

No Tuvans, no Wolf Harbor, no goats in polo-shirts..sniff!

A couple of theories:

It ain't gonna sell much. They need to have more mainstream releases.

It's music from an instrument that is barely used anymore and sounds dated.

They've never gotten around to re-mastering it to today's technology and may do so someday.

Okay, that's three theories.

Gail told Soracha that it's going to be released in 2011.

That would be wonderful, maybe she will reveal this when she answers her 50 questions.

At the Roundhouse, she told us that both this and The Rage And The Fury should be out by 2012. (See http://idiotbastard.com/Reviews/Roundhouse.htm)

Theydon Bois heard that she promised Dance Me This within that timeframe, but he felt that she was less clear about a schedule for The Rage And The Fury.

No, Theydon Bois "wasn't sure if Gail’s 'by 2012' response referred just to Dance Me This, or to both of these records".

Yes, she did. :)
Here are my questions and Gail's answers:

1. When are you planning to release:
a) The Rage and the Fury? - Undecided
b) Dance Me This? - 2011
c) The Roxy Videos? - Need a budget and an editor

2. Will there be 40th anniversary editions of
a) Uncle Meat? - more than likely we can do an audio-documentary
b) Burnt Weeny Sandwich? - there is more material for this possibility
c) Weasels Ripped My Flesh? - we definitely hope to remaster

I thought progress was being made on Roxy. (shrug). I'm fucking sick of talking about it.

Not knowing the specifics (of course) I wonder if the ZFT should just hand over the Roxy footage to a big bad corporation and let them handle it? Sounds like a very difficult and expensive project to do in-house.

Should? Maybe. Would? Never.

All those projects sound great. So does a Hot Rats deluxe version. A little piece of heaven.

I just thought about the year we're in, you know FZ70, the time of the year and Gail's usual cryptic communication in the 50 questions/answers:

I would like to know when will be release The Rage and the Fury?

Thanks from Zut boF

love ya xx

Sorry. I do not actually know at this time. All I can say for sure is that I do want to release it with video documentation and sometime near the end of the year – any year.

OK, so she says that The Rage and the Fury will appear at the end of some year - that could still be 2010, couldn't it? And most likely on the 21st of December. I know this is speculation contrary to the given information, but wouldn't it be cool to end FZ70 with a birthday release of Zappa's homage to his composer idol!

I'll allow myself to hope for that for a couple of weeks, and then I'll start getting excited about Bat Chain Puller in January!

HAHAHAHAH! That made me laugh a lot!
My memory of both of these things are this, A. Rage has an accompanying documentary that they wanted to release simultaneously, but there are some fucked up issues with the guy who made it. Sucks, but I know that's part of it, also I recall Gail saying how she didn't believe there was enough commercial potential to warrant it's release, despite how amazing it is.
Dance Me This, was always meant to accompany a dance event by Lala Human Steps. I don't imagine arranging that is outside the realm of possibility as they are still active. But once again, limited commercial appeal compared to a live show from 78.

I think the most important element, and I want everyone to meditate on this, is that as she's said "there isn't very much completed FZ work left." In other words, Rage and Dance are the only albums I'm aware of he completed, that aren't out there. I guess you could consider the double disc JABFLA, Chalk Pie, and Night of the Iron Sausage as unreleased completed works too. I think it's a relevant strategy, not just from a business standpoint, but from a fan standpoint, that these things should be delayed. Why not? Once they're out there, there's nothing left. She wants to continue to make releases, and she wants to release the stuff Frank intended to see out there, in the proper way. I can fully understand saving up the real goods for the proper moment.
